The kid can play
Anyone seeing Mark Allen for the first time yesterday against SDSU has to think of all the little players who graced NFL sidelines over the years. The latest example is D Sproules.
Allen showed me speed, shiftiness, quickness, blocking by picking up blitzes and above all, the ability to catch the ball and find space.
Throw in his team value from what I have read about our "Mighty Mouse" and any fan who is worth his salt should have nothing but praise for him at this point in his career.
Some people say that we should not have offered him a scholarship. As usual those people make proclamations because they don't know the real game of football. This is one sport where computer generated data cannot measure heart, the will to win, emotional value to a team and flat out athletic ability from a small man.
Mark Allen's performance yesterday in a time of need has justified his scholarship. I believe that he will be called on many more times in his career at Penn State to show the naysayers that even Small Men can play this game.
Mighty Mouse is alive and well!.
