Mark Hall to wrestle Iranian at Beat the Streets

Another reason why being a short train ride (2 or 3 stops depending on the train for me) from New York Penn Station has been such a boon for a college wrestling fan in 2016. I'll be there. Last year was a blast.

A review afterwards would be nice...great that you can attend.

Didn't catch the score, but ...

The Iranians initial 2 seemed to be a bit suspect to my eye. I didn't think the match was as close as 8-5 or even 8-3 would indicate.

Marks last 3 months has been pretty busy schedule wise. While his classmates are doing what normal kids do he is on another planet. His grey shirt I would use if I was him to relax, meditate and just be a kid.

His summer already started and already I'm tired for him.

And he is now leaving bts and heading to uww juniors. ....Kid is a warrior

I was wondering El Jefe if your World Domination model including high school kids dominating the worlds best at their age and weight? I wanted to be sure that these parameters we're being met as Mark Hall bests an Iranian in Beat the Streets. I didn't any expectations to be lowered in any way.

I took a lot of photos, won't get them onto Flickr until tomorrow or this weekend, but will dump a few I took of Hall here.

I couldn't focus and high five him at the same time (that's my hand on the left). He's a class act though, 100% steel-eyed focus before the match, enjoying the fans after.

Thing of beauty yet again Tikk10. You captured unbelievable moments in time. Loving... literally loving every picture. Great job.

Oh, man Tikk10 had a much better spot than I. The setup this year was not conducive to live viewing or at least was not as good as last year. I struggled to see the mat most of the time and relied on the huge video screen off 7th Avenue to follow the action a good 1/2 of the time.

Good job by the USA wrestlers. Fix looks like a future 141 pounder as a true freshman, unless he is a Cowboy, in which case he will be a 125. ;) McKee looked less impressive, but still did what he had to to pull it out. The reversal off the exposure was sweet. Hall will be very, very difficult to score against in folkstyle. Great scrambler and very composed on the mat. Valencia looked like he hadn't done much training - he was gassing in the first half. Hard to make a judgment about him.

Cox was impressive. He certainly isn't going to get outsized at this weight. Burroughs was Burroughs.

It is a fun event and the wrestling was pretty wide open, but I hope they move it back up the street where they have bleachers/steps to view the action. They could charge people to sit in the bleachers and raise a lot of money for a good cause.

PS - The USA women were very good and the action was excellent.

This is the third one I've been to so I know to get there early for a spot on the rail. Downside to that plan is walking again after standing in the same spot for 5 hours. Brutal. I have to start hitting people up for photog credentials. You're right that last year's was better up by 47th st. Today was the same place they did it in 2014. Agreed with all your takes, though I was more impressed by McKee than I expected to be.Yeah, I don't know who's taking Hall down in college either. He's kind of at the same point Nolf is, where he lets guys in on his legs so he doesn't get bored. It's nuts what Cox has been able to do with zero FS and int'l experience. One of the best things about Cox's emergence is that maybe we'll stop hearing about how we need to scrap Folk.

Wow. I headed in on a 5:30 train and wound up on the rail but closer to 43rd Street on the east side of Broadway. I may have been 100' away from you. You sure took one for the team getting there that early. It is still nice to be able to see such great wrestling on a "for free" basis. 2016 has been a great year to be a NYC area resident who loves wrestling.

Great pics tikk. Cox has freestyle experience although I don't think he has wrestled much, if any, in recent years. He won Freestyle at Fargo a few years back beating Snyder in the semis. He finished 3rd at Fargo in Greco that same year losing to Snyder in the semis.

I swear Hall looks like a mix of DT and Ruth style wise. The way he turned the tables on the Iranian in a few of those positions was insane.

My only question is what will Hall even work on for 2 years if he defers enrollment and then takes a shirt? The dude is more than ready to destroy Collegiates right now. I know he has bigger plans, but at what point will BaybeeMarky just get bored and put on the Blue and White.

Hall is so good, his biggest obstacle in College will be boredom for with opponents. He knows this and nobody sees the bigger picture and motivates a kid to become an even better man than Cael. This is why Mark choose PSU IMO. Cael has a plan for Mark, this is something we've heard repeatedly. It's real, and the plan is bigger than NCAA titles.

j, my hope is that he takes one year and then hits the lineup. Hall could compete at a high level right now however team wise it makes sense to redshirt. Hopefully Bo grows into 184 so Mark can slot into 174 in 2017-18. That will still cause some shuffling of guys to 197 but it's better then an undersized Nickal moving up prematurely this upcoming season. One thing is for sure, the lineup is going to be INSANE when he enters the mix.

He's actually a combination of Taylor, the better parts of Dake and Stieber, throw in some Cael, John Smith, Baumgartner, McIlravy, some Brands Brothers, with the flair of Billy Baldwin.

A true Atom Bomb, the truth of wrestling.

Mark Hall, has anyone seen anything like him? The answer of course is resounding: no,

The only problem with Hall I could foresee would be if JB retired and Hall takes over and has immediate success. He is already on record on how much more he loves freestyle than folk. Why not do it full time? I think his eye is not only being the best American ever but the best ever. I'm not trolling but the grey shirt makes a statement, especially when you all are right...he could come right in and win it. Part me wishes for this scenario but the overall fan doesn't...I want to see if another guy can run the gauntlet and go undefeated. Good for the college sport.

You know there's another incoming recruit phenom on record as enjoying freestyle much more than folk, who will likely have a few years of eligibility remaining after the next Olympic cycle. Of the two worst-case-for-folk scenarios I think there's a greater likelihood that Lee supplants whoever at 57kg than Hall dethroning Burroughs. Hall got tech'd by Andrew Howe a month ago. The difference between Lee and Dennis (and everyone else at 57) is probably the pounds Lee needs to make up, not ability. I hope they both run out their full folk terms in office though.
