It would appear as though he might be wrestling in the Southern Scuffle:

Would this be a first? Good move by the scuffle if they worked it out. Maybe he'd get Brucki in the R of 16 or something.

I have a feeling that if they wrestle again Mark will make up the difference. It's a great win by Brucki, but from all accounts Mark Hall was the aggressor and if he can stay away from the tilt he'll win.

Yeah, I saw it. Plenty of good things to take out of the match. Had 3 takedowns. Like Suriano, I believe Hall has yet to have been taken down.

Excited to see he's Scuffle bound! Any overachievers out there able to list his potential matchups or just direct me to an entry list?

Watch what Cael did to the guy who beat him. Watch what Hall did to Valencia the 2nd time they met. Not worried about Mark Hall

I'm an idiot. Central Michigan at Midlands. I think they were at Scuffle last year.

Crutch
Realbuto
Ramos
Kent
Priesch
Lujan
Wilson
Bass
Bernstein

just watched the match - he got careless on bottom and payed the price. he also needs to pick up the pace on his feet. he was clearly superior - needs to take page out of Nolf book and pour it on til they break

Put our coaching staff in his corner and he doesn't lose that match. That being said, he does look a bit undersized at 174 and needs some work with his ground game. Redshirt will serve him well.

A loss on the mat is a win for our coaches, when they put it in the right perspective with the wrestlers. The coaches sure don't get excited about W/L's, only effort, determination, aggressive wrestling...simply put by Cael..."the process". Heck, even the greatest collegiate wrestler ever (my humble opinion) lost a match his RS year.

I agree completely. To be fair, though, I felt the same way with Nolf and IMar, with DT and Dake (and with DT and Bubba), and I was surprised when those puzzles did not get solved. (I'm just thinking out loud. I'm not saying that Hall is dealing with a Dake- or IMar-level opponent, here.)

A first what?
I know the Scuffle has allowed redshirts. Nolf wrestled there as a RS and Joseph was supposed to wrestle there last season. I assumed Hall would wrestle there as well.

Really, I don't remember Nolf beating Realbuto at the Scuffle!

Please give me an example of an unattached wrestler from a school where his team was not competing at the tournament. Scuffle isn't an Open. Thanks! sorry I wasn't clear.

Ahhh. I forgot PSU was not at the Scuffle this year. That's why I questioned "a first"

I believe Navy Prep sent 2 unattached guys last year, though the Navy team was there. NC State only sent 3, all unattached, pretty sure.

The year prior, Edinboro only sent 1 wrestler, unattached at the time.

It's unusual, for sure.

There we go! Great info and good news. Thanks

At the Scuffle last year, Matt McCutcheon avenged his Nittany Lion Open loss to Michael Macchiavello, who was wrestling unattached from NC State and was the only NC State athlete at the tournament. I think Utah State had a few wrestlers competing unattached even though the full team wasn't there.

I always thought the same thing you did, LP. Obviously, for whatever reason, they make some exceptions. If they're looking to sell tickets and generate interest, Mark Hall would not be a bad exception for them to make.

I believe Chandler Pike and Rodney Shepard also went unattached from NC State last year, in addition to Macchiavello.

Nolf beat Realbuto 7-4 his true FR year (RS). I saw the match--it did happen.

Does anyone think Joseph & Hall would ever flip flop weights ?

Just curious.

I think Hall can't get too big, because he will always want to stay in range of 74kg (163lbs)

To me, Joseph already looks small at 165. But most people don't agree with me. I just couldn't see Vincenzo at 174. It does seem like Hall would have to have a Dean-like physique to be a full-sized 174 pound wrestler.

Just an observation.
Mark is currently not the biggest 174 you are ever going to see. Just guessing but by this time next year I bet he is cutting some weight to get to 174.
Jason is a freaking huge 157 pounder. Saw Jason standing next to Vincenzo last Saturday right b4 practice and standing side by side Jason appears to be the larger man. I am not saying he is, just the outward appearance makes it seem so.

In the traditional sense no.
This thread has gone silly without many knowing. Lol.

There's a lot of crystal ball thinking on Hall's cut but you'd really have to know his walking weight to know his cut. Traditional sense? I've seen kids, including myself slide right past the mark on weigh in day even on the hard cut day. Usually later in the season but still happens routinely.

How many of our "undersized" guy's have excelled? Loads. Right now, is anyone more undersized than Cutch and he's showing an ability to move the big men. Frank was pretty much undersized except when laying down. Lol. Kilgore wasn't ours but he was undersized and for years people wanted Smackintosh to go 184.

A couple of posts back in the thread we had a positively sarcastic comment saying "Really? I never saw Nolf beat Realbuto......" a few bit down so hard one even said "I saw it myself".

Sometimes I cannot stop laughing and this thread has done just that.

So to the question of whether or not Hall and Joseph would Flip Flop I would like to respond.

I don't know but I bet Nolf can help them try.

CB--"There's a lot of crystal ball thinking on Hall's cut but you'd really have to know his walking weight to know his cut."

I think I read a couple of months ago that Hall was walking around about 180.
