Looking at who both teams have wrestled to date in 2024 - 2025 and the results they've obtained so far, in particular versus several common opponents, it appears PSU's starters could possibly hang 40+ on the poor Turtles, especially at Rec Hall, and maybe shut them out as well.

If something like that were to happen, i.e. PSU were to score a total of 80± team points over two consecutive duals while simultaneously allowing zero points defensively, am thinking it could well be a first -- even though it's a stat no one would likely ever bother to keep records on.

Still, it's extremely difficult to build a team good enough to even think about ever reaching that level of performance, much less to have a realistic shot at actually doing it on a given Sunday -- like the one coming up in a couple days.

Yes, I know the above line of thought runs directly contrary to the coaching philosophy of the head coach who built the team which now could possibly pull off such a feat, in particular if he chooses not to rest some starters for the following weekend in Columbus and Champaign. He, correctly, believes his wrestlers should focus not on team points but on individual-, match-to-match skills improvement, after which team points will naturally follow.

But, certainly, it's the undeniable, team-after-team, week-after-week, year-after-year improvement in those individual skills which ultimately provides curious fans, like this one from the Dark Ages who arrived in State College one year before a Head Coach named Bill Koll, the enjoyable opportunity to wonder about such obscure trivialities at all.

Here's hoping the coach and his wrestlers keep it up.

I scarcely can imagine the beatdowns that will happen when our boys are no longer training through and actually come in hot to some of these next duals.

😜

Anything at all on Davis? I’m guessing a backup will be ran out again, believe Brown beat Shawver yesterday

I thought Garcia wrestled a nice match on Friday. I know the Michigan kid has lost some matches, and I’m not saying he’s Davis or Nagao, but I think he can preserve the shutout in a lot of duals when his number is called. Tough one today for him but I’m looking forward to see what he can do against Brown.

I don't expect anyone to sit except possibly Davis. This makes too much sense as the annual "train thru" weekend.

If Davis sits, then Braxton Brown will be a heavy favorite over our backup. Otherwise:

Davis is sitting again. Brown will most likely get bonus points against Garcia.

However this goes down:
a) I get to watch it live on a cross country flight and get home in time for the an Eagles victory so thats pretty awesome
b) I am really happy to see Maryland's stock rising. It's seems extremely hard to do in the age of NIL.
c) Have a great Sunday everyone

Assuming
1) the airlines don’t let you down
2) I hope they don’t
3) have a great Sunday everyone!
4) let’s notch another dual victory and a Super Bowl win for Barkey’s birthday!

He pinned Kale Petersen. Wrestlestat has it wrong. Schriever is 141
Thanks for the correction. Just thought your troll post (“your guy is gonna lose by bonus”) deserved an equal response. Imagine one of us posting in an Iowa dual thread an hour before the match that an Iowa kid was gonna get bonused. Immediate banhammer from Turk.

It wasn’t meant to be a troll post. Brown is very good and Garcia barely beat the Michigan dude who is like 5-12. I said “most likely” get bonus as well.

Hoping the student section has a “We Have To Pin!” chant queued up for today.

Still not worried about 133? I really hope that was just a rumor about a scooter accident
Not a rumor. 1 poster here claims to have witnessed the accident. So, it’s either true or a complete fabrication. Or a case of mistaken identity I suppose.

I'm in, but had to reload.

I was finally able to get in, but on my cell phone, still can't get in on my computer. Not sure why it has to be so difficult all the time.

And.....just like that it dropped. Bastards.

Hopefully Slippery Pete is on board and has his fingers limbered up, because I may be in the dark.

Looks like Bill S. Preston, Esq. wrestles for Maryland
