We’re considering a trip to Maryland. Is it feasible to take the Metro to the game if we stay in DC? We’re planning on flying into DCA on Thursday, checking out the campus on Friday and the game on Saturday.

Should we avoid a car and take the train around? Or is a car needed?

I recall staying in Silver Springs two years ago and driving to College Park. It was easy and we parked in downtown College Park. The walk to stadium was equivalent to walking from downtown SC to Beaver Stadium.

Last time we went, we stayed at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. Great hotel, just off campus. Great experience and a great win!

Yes, it is very feasible to take the metro. There is a College Park stop on the Green and Yellow lines. The walk is approx 1 mile to the stadium. There is a shuttle but I don’t know the schedule on weekends or game days. You can always Uber as well.

Personally, I avoid cars whenever possible, especially in an unfamiliar location. Traffic on game days in College Park is a nightmare.
Thanks! If it were just for the game, I’d definitely use the train only. But we’re debating staying in DC or the Burbs. If the burbs, we’ll likely get the car.

Isn't there a shuttle from the metro stop to the campus?
There is a shuttle from the metro to the stadium but then you will have to deal with obnoxious UMD fans during transit. The walk isn't bad.

But yes, it is relatively easy to metro from the downtown. Campus is on green line. Depending on where you are downtown, it's about 30 minutes on the train.

There may be. I've done the walk. We went from the metro to downtown (but it was September and beautiful). Partied down town then walked to the stadium.

You could probably Uber from the metro to downtown or stadium.

It’s sold out. Advanced parking is also sold out for this game. Other games, parking is still available. I’m guessing PSU will show up in force again.
Try for parking at the Hotel at the University of Maryland through Spot Hero or a similar parking reservation service.

you could amuse yourselves by wondering if any of them are some of the fans who wished Derrick William's family would get hit by a car

or if they are old enough maybe they hit Brian O'Neal with a bottle to the face getting glass stuck into him

We always book the Holiday Inn Express. They have a shuttle that takes us to Looney’s for pre game and then it’s just a short walk out the back door to the stadium. We walk back to the hotel, 1.5 miles.

Great. Thanks for the tip on Looney's. I'll wait to see what others say about pregaming, bars, restaurants, etc... It will be our first time at this stadium so we're interested in checking out the campus scene. We were at a game in 1989 when they played at Memorial Stadium. Ended in a 13-13 tie.. Ugh

Yes, this is why I'd rather walk than take the shuttle. UMD fans suck
