Mason Manville?

It's really tough to say. When you have 5 returning national champs from 149-184 it means he's almost certainly going to RS next season at PSU. I doubt we'll know for sure until after next season, which will be based on at which weight he wrestles during his RS campaign.

Even then we might not really know. We've had guys shirt up a weight, notably Ed Ruth. And Manville is the type of guy who would do that for the challenge.

I can see Mason taking the redshirt next year, and then at 174, in for Mark, who will take his redshirt after his sophomore year and his second National championship.

Redshirt year next year. Then maybe Mark takes a RS at some point and Mason slides in at 174. Eligible for Oly RS at some point because of his Cadet gold. He could find a way to start 3 years. I don't think he'll ever wrestle above 174 though and if he doesn't he'll be at a disadvantage doing so

If they use the same standards as 2015-2016 Olympic redshirt, this does not qualify Manville for an Olympic redshirt. You need to either have made a world/Olympic team (top 3 at trials), finish top 8 at the 2019 world team trials, win a junior medal in the Olympic cycle (2016-2019), or finish top 3 at NCAAs + top 2 at universities in 2019.

Manville's best shot at qualifying for an Olympic redshirt will be finishing top 8 in Greco in 2019. Hall has actually already qualified for the redshirt as well (this is all assuming the same criteria is being used for 2020 as it was for 2016).

I stand corrected!

In 3 year i am counting on Edmond Ruth being at 174 !!!! Maybe 65 but Edward started at 74 too....

Can ISU please have David Carr? Is the full court press off of him for now at least? Throw us a bone Spyker we scored one damn point at this years tournament. We barely out scored tenn chat and they were in the negative. So sad.

I am pulling for Dresser to do his magic at Iowa State. David Carr would be a great addition for the Cyclones and I'm not sure there is a spot for him at Penn State. OTOH, I want more quality depth for the Nittany Lions. :)

Carr's star kind of dulled a bit this year. He lost in 1 or 2 preseason tourneys, and then lost to another Ohio 152 lber at the Reiman Invitational in February. However, his season had a nice ending as he won his 3rd title at Ohio States, and defeated the same Ohio junior in the finals that had defeated him at the Reiman Invit., Jaden Mattox.

David is quite a talented wrestler, and most wrestling fans remember his dad (and high school coach), Nate Carr.

It will be interesting to see which program lands David Carr.

Iowa State will be beating Iowa in 4 or so years.....Dresser is going to be the nails in the Brands Brothers.....Iowa has been down and will be even lower now that Iowa State has a great recruiter and Coach....

Don't see this happening this quickly with the recruits Iowa has coming in. Think it might be possible in the long run as I'm very impressed with Dresser as a coach.
