Match Notes for ASU Dual

Well this could be interesting depending on who steps on the mat.

Even with the starters, it would be very competitive at 125, 149, 157, 165, 184 and 285. We would have the clear edge at 133, 141, 174 and 197. But we won't be rolling out starters at 157, 184 and 197 (maybe).

If that is the case ASU would be at least slight favorites at 125, 149, 157 and 184, and would be competitive at 165 and 285 (Hall redshirted last year so ...) with a punchers chance.

I see PSU with strong leans at 133, 141, and 174. 197 is probably a lean but depends on who goes. If we take 165 and 285 we take 6 bouts with a chance for more. But it could be really close if ASU gets a break in there.

Should be fun.

Cael is very competitive, but I doubt keeping a dual streak alive is at the top of his list. Aside from Shak I suspect Berge, Conel and Cassar may all be 50/50. Who knows he might alternate Gardner, Schnupp or Gardener in. We could easily lose if we fields 1/2 true starters

I certainly could see Berge and Conel being 50-50. However, what makes you say that about Cassar? I know he didn't go at Farrell, but I heard nothing about serious injury.

If Cassar is healthy, I don't see 285 being very close.

Flo speculated that Cassar might get a light schedule and focus on freestyle leading up to the US open in December. I really hope not but he was apparently a healthy scratch on both events this past weekend. Even a cold might keep some guys out this time of year. Their heavy did have one 3-1 loss to Gable but Cassar should come close to a major maybe a 6 point cushion min.

It's pretty damn close. I think we see a good lineup that wins about seven matches.

I see this as

125 - Tossup
133 - PSU possible bonus
141 - PSU definite bonus
149 - Tossup
157 - ASU if Teemer, PSU otherwise
165 - PSU
174 - PSU, very interested to see how Anthony does vs Hall
184 - ASU definite bonus
197 - PSU if Conel, otherwise ASU
285 - PSU if Cassar, otherwise ASU with bonus

So many variables that I can see it anywhere from PSU winning easily to a very close match.

Isn't PSU only allowed to bring 13 wrestlers to the event or is that only BIG10 rules? If they bring those in Tom's match notes, then either Shakur or Conel must wrestle (with Edsell as the fill in for either). I don't see PSU forfeiting a weight (when was the last time that happened)? If I'm wrong about the 13 or 14 travelling, then no issue

Track already has lineup loaded

125 Brandon Courtney vs Brody Teske
133 Joshua Krammer vs Ramon Bravo-Young
141 Navonte Demison vs Nick Lee
149 Joshua Maruca vs Luke Gardner
157 Jacori Teemer vs Brady Berge
165 Joshua Shields vs Vincenzo Joseph
174 Anthony Valencia vs Mark Hall
184 Zahid Valencia vs Shakur Rasheed
197 Kordell Norfleet vs Kyle Conel
285 Tanner Hall vs Anthony Cassar

Obviously this can change but usually lineups aren’t input in to Track until right before the dual starts.

I'd be very surprised if Rasheed's first match back from injury is against Zahid.

If that turns out to be PSU'S lineup tomorrow night I will change my profile pic to Tom Brands for the remainder of this season.

We'll know tomorrow ... and I don't say that to be a smart aleck.

I think we see Verk as well, with Conel being a question based upon his ankle and weight.

I think we may bring 2 guys for 149, 197, and maybe even Heavy and Cael may not decide until the match is evolving. I really hope we see Cassar.

I have feeling Az state will flip the coin and start the match at 184 if they can

May I suggest this one to cushion the blow.

I agree that lineup is highly unlikely -- but if we're wrong, can you make it Mike Evans?
