MBB vs Quinnipiac

PSU wins by 9 but it really wasn't that close. My biggest criticisms are that they were lazy closing out on 3 pt shooters and they gave up too many offensive rebounds.

Pickett missed triple double by 1 assist. At least 3 players missed shots off of a Pickett pass in the final 5 minutes that cost Pickett an assist.

Henn had a nice game. Wynter was good in the 1st half.

December 20 and its irrelevant but Lunardi has us in...one of the last 4 byes...
Agree it's irrelevant. We'll know a lot more in 2 weeks. Iowa might be a must win at home. Michigan has 4 losses but against ranked teams. I don't think we have much of a chance against Purdue.

It was a good sign that, even though we shot poorly from 3 and missed a ton of short shots, we still won comfortably. We blow them out if we shoot anywhere near our normal % from 3.

If we’re going to upset anyone it’s going to come down to Funk….if he’s hot, we can compete with many teams.

I don’t necessarily agree that if we are to upset anyone it’s going to come down to funk. There are enough guys on this team that shoot a high percentage from three point range that it’s not just him.

Dread, Lundy, Wynter, even Johnson can all have big games from deep. To me, it’s more of needing two guys to be hitting from outside with Pickett playing his normal game to beat a Purdue or team like that. Henns increased playing time is also a big positive, his ability to keep Edey or Dickinson away from the basket makes Pickett even more dangerous.

I don’t think any of them can shoot as consistently as Funk. Dread goes on streaks where he can’t hit anything, same with Lundy. I’m assuming Pickett will be Pickett because he’s consistent. Lundy will also have to play well, but if Funk is hitting, we can pull some upsets.

An upset it’s just a random game that you win you shouldn’t so it makes sense that any random player can have a good game that leads to the upset. Matter fact, most of the time that’s how it works.

For what it's worth...we have 7 players that have shot over 100 career three pointers. Funk has the lowest career 3pt% of the 7.

Also worth noting that as of today, Pickett is 5th in the country in Pomeroy's "Player of the Year" metric. Edey is 1st, and no one else from the Big Ten in the top 10. Pickett is 2nd in the country in Assist Rate (and at the same time in the top 125 in Turnover Rate), and in the top 200 in Defensive Rebounding Rate (ridiculously high for a guard). He's had an amazing first two months of the season.
