An altered state
When someone quotes another poster's comment, there is a small up arrow by the quoted person's name. That arrow is a live link to the original post. Tap on that up arrow and you will be directed to that quote. You can do this multiple times to see what the discussion is about. It will go back to other pages in long threads.

Don't know if it will jump to another thread if that is where the original quote is from but I think it will.

This helps understand a conversation within a thread.

Honestly, this is amazing to me...it’s like you’ve given me a $100 bill...this is where my life is right now amidst the coronavirus. I’m not being sarcastic at all...this discovery literally made my week!!

Its really helpful when McAndrew posts one of the research tweets in the corona virus research thread , then someone quotes that post. All that shows up in the quoted is the tweet url number so you have no clue what the original post was about. Just tap on the up arrow in the quoted post and, voila, you have the whole tweet post.

Thanks, never knew that.

Accept that the board's namesake celebrates a pulitzer prize for a debunked fictional piece of Anti-America propaganda. It's all good though. Free country and all.

Just like I'm free to change my signature pic to this:

Thank you for posting this. One of the biggest problems on this board is that people pontificate in the middle of a thread they haven't read. It's a big reason that threads get off topic.

It's an awesome feature. I bet the Pitt board doesn't have it.

We never had problems understanding conversations when this board had a real thread view format.

I saw you mention this in another thread.... thanks!

Now if only half of these bozos around here would click reply or quote the post they're responding to we'd be golden!

Off topic.......I thought there was a way to see who is currently online....is that a thing of the past?

I mentioned this in the coronavirus thread and many 'old timers' said they didn't know that so I thought it would be helpful for everyone.

Yes, would be great if people used the 'quote' function. Helps a lot!

Is there a way to easily see updated poll results? Usually, when I go back to a poll thread, it takes me to the last (first?) unread post. In order to see the latest poll results I need to scroll to the top. Is there a shortcut for that?

Only thing I know of is when you start to scroll, two arrows appear in the bottom right corner. Tap on the up arrow and it will take you to the top of the page. If there are multiple pages, you must go to page one first.

Thought it was time to bump this up. Lots of new people.

This is a great function to go back and see other related comments. It’s also good because you may see a reply to someone with only see a box stating “view embedded media” and can’t tell what that is.

Just look at the number of the current post in upper right hand corner so you can get back to that point in the thread.
