JVP needed, then engaged, tolerated, and finally was prosecuted by the media. Just now I watched Coach Franklin calmly answer their question about Thanksgiving Dinner. He is managing the media as they need to be. He sees the humor they can provide and treats them as the children they are when deserved. I appreciate his ability to handle them better than i would or could. Its almost like (ok is) he was prosecuted early in the season with job security, tolerated, and is now using these fools by engaging with them as the gentleman he is. I LOVE IT!!! Not sure I will ever be able to respect these people. I was a great consumer. NO MORE. Big fan of Coach! What are his initials?

Here is why, FOR TODAY's COLLEGE ENVIRONMENT, James Franklin is a much better coach for Penn State than Joe Paterno - MEDIA MANAGEMENT with Franklin is upgraded to what is needed in a corrupt media environment.

Joe, for all his solid skills with his player's personal development (my belief is he was much more of an EDUCATOR than a Coach), was (especially in his later life) slow at controlling the media. Everything with Joe was painted in his mind as "black and white" and this viewpoint was re-stated in public in these honestly simplistic terms. He used this "direct speak" conversation platform whenever he handled media. He did not parse caution into what he said in public and he never seemed to consider what the media COULD do with "spinning" his statements. In fact, Joe's media image was actually fashioned by the media over the LONG time period of his coaching. Image (his media "legacy") was not in (my opinion) any part of Joe's thinking.

We have seen over the past years how the media has replaced good sense, traditional American Values and THE LAW ITSELF as where current America judges and reacts to issues. Sadly, we are in an age of Political Correctness - not the age of Law - in society. Political Correctness is the by-product of mass media! Whoever controls mass-media the best, gets benefits from the media - whoever opposes media "heads" gets the AX! Media creates the foundation component - the currency - of a Politically Correct Society - MISINFORMATION. It is misinformation managed by the media that manipulates the public into believing "what Media tells them". So media management is essential for any college program to exist successfully in the public's mind.

Problem is....we have seen NOTHING from media that remotely looks like responsibility or attention to truth and wee routinely see media distort, if not totally alter, facts and reasonable analysis. That is why Penn State can be abused in media stories the way they have been!

So, we are doubly blessed to have James Franklin as a Coach - FIRST...he seems to have totally bought into Paterno's True Legacy - "Success with Honor" - AND - SECOND...he seems significantly more capable in handling the realities of today's mass media.

Something to be truly thankful for on this day of Thanksgiving.
