Would have helped if the AAF was wise enough to come out of the blocks with team names/logos that weren’t so terribly lame...

Pretty obvious that the AAF’s best revenue-stream will soon be derived from providing stock images for TV ads in Best Buy circulars

What the hell were they thinking ? there’s not a good one in the bunch

Pro football team in Birmingham has tried to capitalize on the City's industrial heritage. Or pervading nationalism. So "Iron" is not out of the realm for their name.

"Hotshots" makes me think Charlie Sheen is gonna show up for a game standing on his motorcycle. And as far as "Legends"....I think you actually have to have some football history before being considered a legend.

The "Express"is easy to figure out - although I had heard that when the Grizzlies moved from Vancouver to Memphis, the NBA would not let them use the same nickname, because the NBA has a rule against a team's nickname acting as advertising for a specific company.

"Apollos" - is Orlando that close to Cape Canaveral? I wonder if they let anyone wear the jersey number 13. Because "Apollo 13"....was not a highlight of the Space Program.

"Fleet" is good - something that does not end in "s" is a nice change.

"Commanders" for San Antonio - I assume there is a military presence in S.A? (don't know have not been there).

I generally don't think of horses when I think of Salt Lake City. I actually never even think of Salt Lake City. But if I do, it's not about "Stallions". Does Utah have a lot of horses?

  • Hotshots - I get the fact it's hot in Arizona but what's the deal with the firemen axes?? Is it so hot that things spontaneously combust and people need to call 911?
  • Legends - I'm sure it has something to do with Atlanta's history but when I hear "legends" in regard to sports, I think of the golf tour for older women.
  • Iron - The Pittsburgh of the South, I get it. The name itself isn't bad but it looks like nobody gave enough of a damn to even design a uniform or a distinctive logo. It's as if they didn't want to waste their time since the league won't be around very long anyway.
  • Express - Again, I get it. Not a bad name even though it's been used before. There are only so many generic team names out there.
  • Apollos - This one had me lost until you mentioned the space program. If they wanted to work that angle I think the Orlando Mercury would have sounded better.
  • Stallions - Sounds like just another generic name to me although maybe there is a horse connection in SLC. It seems to me they could have thought of something unique to the area. The Gulls?? Maybe not football or secular enough.
  • Commanders - I see the Alamo and sword in the logo. Also, there's a huge USAF presence in San Antonio so I guess Commanders is understandable even if it does sound forced and generic.
  • Fleet - Not bad. No real criticisms come to mind.

hotshot crew - an elite team of 20 wildland firefighters, the most highly trained in the country, which are prepared to battle the most serious fires nationwide.

San Diego Fleet (?!?!?!?) And here I thought that it would be next-to-impossible to botch a Naval-theme team nickname... if you’re not going to end a team with an “s” it better be for a good reason ... Now you have soccer teams everywhere laughing at these flaccid AAF team-names

Likewise, 100-level accounting class textbooks contain more-interesting corporate names than does this certain-to-flop-league

I feel uncomfortable supporting a league that doesn’t have a transfer portal.

Fleet is an enema maker, right? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fleet-Ex...7z9fLZuemOUxvxMz1_kMIw4bxGvq1pKcaAjUmEALw_wcB
