Looks like a nice pickup for Pat. But yes, I also believe that beating Depaul and Bradley would have been better measures of the BB teams "progress"....

Apparently it doesn’t mean much that we recruit good players because we can’t beat teams with less talent.

Reminds me of Mike Watkins. Doesn’t look like much of a scorer. However, looks like a decent pick up.

I think it’s awesome that he is pulling players from these high schools. PSU would lose some of that if they let him go. But, the results just aren’t there. He did not even ever make the NIT with Frazier or Newbill. Last year’s team should have been top 25 but ended up in the NIT. I had high hopes for the this season but losing to DePaul and Bradley is on par with the DeChellis-era mid-aught days of D2 point guards and Euros.

Sorry, but it’s hard for me to get excited about yet another 3 star recruit. A team of 3 star recruits doesn’t consistently compete for Big Ten championships and make the NCAA tournament. Pat either needs to start landing 4 and 5 star recruits or Sandy needs to hire someone who can.

Ok genius, tell me why Chambers isn’t getting 5 star recruits? All of the previous coaches brought in 4 and 5 star recruits, right? The recruiting has really dropped off since Chambers was hired... also, Chambers has never been recognized as a developer of talent either. And lastly, he’s not a man of character befitting Penn States Success with Homor mentality. He literally checks none of the boxes! Here I thought he was doing everything right a building a culture slowly over time. It turns out he’s just a used car salesman.

He's not building anything and he's had less success than everyone before him. How long do you want to give him? 5 more years? This is ridiculous. He should have been gone at least 2 years ago

Hey, he's only been at PSU since 2011. Give him until 2031.

You believe then that basketball requires good coaching but football does not?
Either you recruit well and win because you have more talent or you have superior strategy and you win more due to coaching. Bottom line, our basketball team can’t do either. If he’s recruiting as well as many on here say he is, then he can’t coach very well. If he’s not recruiting as well as many posters keep telling us he is, then why are we keeping him? Bottom line, either you’re winning with recruiting or strategy and he’s not winning with either.

And he’s on pace to pull another DeChellis move by following up an NIT title with a below .500 season. In case anyone wonders, that’s called going backwards.

After reading all the negative posts I wonder how many of you know the mediocre history of PSU basketball. There’s more talent on this team than ever. Not having Watkins is the reason they lost two games this year. Some of you need to get a life and enjoy what is happening now. By the way been following basketball since 1974.

So he’s recruiting great and developing talent really well....then how come he can’t win? Obviously his recruiting isn’t as great as some posters on here say it is because if it was, he would beat teams like DePaul and Bradley.

Everyone on this board is quite aware of the mediocre history. How is what’s going on now any different than the mediocre history? The results are worse...but we’re getting guys from Philly so obviously the recruiting is better. Maybe we should try New Jersey, because the Philly connection isn’t beating the likes of DePaul and Bradley.

What is happening that you want us to enjoy?

Maybe, but Watkins and Stevens will be gone soon. Are the young players good enough to finally get PSU to the tournament next year or the year after?

Like I said look at the history. When Watkins comes (hopefully) this team will be very competitive. Freshmen getting experience. Stevens one of best to wear PSU uniform. Coaching hasn’t been perfect but players have more talent then before.

We at least have NCAA appearances in our history. How long does Chambers get? Watkins or no Watkins those are 2 unacceptable losses in year 8. I think it's year eight. It's all a blur at this point.

The previous success under Dechelis and Dunn was all due to long shot recruits paying off once every decade. In the other seasons their teams were putrid. Chambers is building with solid recruiting connections that are now paying dividends. He is getting 5 star recruits to visit campus. When did that ever happen with Dechelis or Dunn? You could try to hire Rick Petino, or another scum bag and there would be a quicker ascent to the top of the big ten, but Penn State has the talent now and in the pipeline to make the ncaa tournament if they stay healthy and eligible.

Elite teams do both. They recruit well and deploy superior strategies. Over time one will feed or starve the other. There are no rules in college athletics to drive parity.

For football coaches paid millions it is expected that they provide both. Basketball is similar, albeit with smaller numbers. Over the long run you should get what you pay for, or your athletic department is incompetent.

If Watkins makes it back for the big ten season then we are talented enough to make the dance. It’s just a matter of when mike comes back and how many games we win without him.

Talent compared to what? The rest of the Big Ten? Eventually a coach has to win. Basketball is the one sport where a single player can make a difference. In 7 years he's yet to bring in that caliber of a player. You can say that Dunn & DeChellis got lucky and I won't argue that but Chambers isn't succeeding regardless of how we try to spin it. He finished under 500 in year 6. Decent team last year that failed to make the tournament. I kept hearing how this was definitely the year we'd make the NCAAs and the non-conference slate is probably going to prevent that 5 games into the season. Let's be real, we're not winning 12+ in the Big Ten. You can't have "bad" losses. In year 3, I could say we're still building depth. This is year 8, there's no excuse for not having depth. None. Chambers isn't getting the job done. At the end of the day the coach should be judged on wins & losses. He needs to win games. People want Washington fired but Chambers has accomplished far less and the situation she came into was also horrible.

My guess is that you've set a record for the number of people that placed you on ignore in 6 weeks. Congrats! How long do you think it'll take until you get banned?

He is a probable record setter in that respect - in the absence of 21guns and Bushwood. He's pretty clever. I'd call him a semi-troll.
