Miles Sanders is an interesting prospect. No question he has elite running ability. Very few players have the agility accompanied by the elite speed. In my opinion he should come in to PSU and immediately contribute to special teams in the return game and in select situations he could have a role offensively freshman year. He is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands. If he is a true 6'0" 200 he should come right in and contribute any way the staff needs. No Redshirt.

I've watched his sophomore, junior and senior film on hudl and its fantastic. Immediately his speed and agility jump off the screen. He mainly ran the outside zone, variations of the power scheme, and counter trey. He even lined up at QB a few plays and ran some zone read out of the wildcat. He even surprised me when he threw the ball with incredible strength and fairly accurate. I believe he threw the ball one time but never the less it was impressive and quite possibly could be something that could be utilized on gadget plays.

His line had fairly decent size(but not ideal) the majority just held their blocks long enough for him to get to the second level or to bounce it outside to get the corner. His line wasn't great but it was good enough. Youngblood was his best lineman. Although the majority of his highlights are off tackle or outside run plays, IMO this by no means, equates to an inability to run between the tackles. Sanders is not the type of running back that is searching for contact. He learned very early on that he could use his agility and quickness to get in the open. But don't be fooled by his running style at this point, he is big enough and skilled enough to tote the rock inside and outside the tackles. On a few plays he didn't trust the blocking scheme and would bounce. A good running back coach will coach him up on patience and trusting the scheme. There is no doubt in my mind he will become a trustworthy back at the collegiate level.

Despite all of that, I would categorize him as an Athlete. He is skilled enough to be a RB, WR, and if he grew up a QB he probably would be a scholarship QB somewhere. But in my opinion I believe his best position is in the secondary. At 5'11" or 6'0" he is tall enough to be an elite DB. In the few defensive highlights I thought he showed a impressive ability to highpoint the ball and a ferocious tackling ability. With his speed and agility he could play hash to hash as a safety covering ground effortlessly.

I'm well aware this probably won't happen. He will probably become a successful back at PSU(crosses fingers) in tandem with Barkley. I don't think Franklin will have trouble attracting top offensive talent once his true scheme is in place. With all that said, I've always been told that you put your best Athletes on defense, and I believe Miles Sanders is one heck of a Athlete and football player and could be a game changer on defense. Maybe a Levi Brown story could entice Sanders to the defensive side of the ball.

By no means will I take offense to differing opinions considering my thoughts are kinda outside the box to say the least. I'm just curious to know what you all think because I had this kicking around inside my head.
