Milhoff

There appeared to be a long delay between appearant contact and the reaction. Very strange.

Rewatching RBY.

Holy flop, Milhoff. Did one of RBY’s far reaching hairs on his head actually touch you?

After you thought about it, apparently one did.

Hopefully Hands to the Face isn’t the new Gasser.
It was British Premier League level floppery, yeah. Zeke went all in on it too because bumping Millhof up had, by that point, revealed itself to be a Big Mistake.

Hehe. Maybe not a mistake since I’d prefer more thinking like that. But it certainly didn’t turn out well.

Yeah, tough for RBY to poke him in the eye when his hands were flat on the mat. There was a bit of a head bump, but not much of one.

If a gassing wrestler knows an opponent doesn't want to take down on a restart from injury time, then feigning injury could be a strategic move. Unfortunately, penalizing a perceived feigned injury would be a sticky proposition for a college combat sport.

I thought RBY's head bumped his nose. Probably just trying to clear his vision with the eye rubbing.
This is what I thought as well. Then Zeke asked for the review because he didn't see what happened and Millhoff needed to regain his composure. The ref complied.

Pretty standard and understandable sequence of events that resulted in the correct decision.

I assume all of you have taken a good bop to the schnoz? The first thing that happens is your eyes tear up and you can't see. Please tell me that is everyone and not just me.
And it doesn't have to be a hard shot either, just hit in the right spot. Even been barely touched in the sack and it hurt like hell? Ever seen a guy drop like a rock 2 full seconds after taking a body shot in boxing?

I agree and don't buy the "flop" argument at all. There was a light headbutt. Unintentional, but to think there would be no reaction at all is looking at it with colored glasses. A slight delayed reaction would be normal. It happened, it was inadvertent, the referees looked at it because it wasn't clear to everyone initially what happened and the new hands to the face rule is in effect. Everything worked out correctly.

No question about it. At the time we weren’t sure what happened either. Upon watching today, there was slight contact with the head but sure didn’t look like something to cause a reaction.

Agreed. I'd add that the eyes are about the most sensitive part of the body. Think of the last time you had an eyelash or tiny spec of anything in your eye and had to immediately stop everything to deal with it. So, I can see Millhof having the same reaction if his eyeball was on the receiving end of a poky strand of hair, etc. I can't fault the kid at all. Now Zeke's reaction seemed to be a little ... uh, reactionary. Glad it turned out to be nothing.

There are so many comments in this thread that deserve a laughing face. That should be an option lol.

Milhof is an experienced wrestler who seems to have a good motor. He was obviously game to bump up a weight, and it sure didn't look like he was gassing. It seems like a major reach to suggest there was any ulterior motive for his backing away after the mini head butt. He was briefly dazed, and then the review obviously caused a lengthy delay -- but I don't even know if the review was requested by Zeke or if the officials did it on their own.

As an aside, Milhof displayed good sportsmanship. He was gracious after the match, extending his hand immediately, and even giving RBY a friendly tap on the head as he headed off the mat.
