Minnesota rookie Jordan Addison

So he signs the contract and first thing he does is buy a Lamorghini. He's lucky he got nabbed as he could have killed himself or worse someone else. Maybe he'll end up as an all pro but probably a better chance he has a decent career but still ends up blowing through his newfound wealth.

Could easily have killed an innocent family. Just another irresponsible pitt-trained imbecile.
All programs have guys that do stupid things. Bringing Pitt into it just makes you look petty worrying about an inferior program.

There should be...and maybe there are...privately run roads where people can go, sign a waiver re. responsibility, and then drive as fast as they want on them. I don't know what the legal consequences of driving 140 on a public road are, but his should be suspended for at least a month, preferably a year. Society simply should not tolerate it.

There was a company in Miami years ago that for a substantial fee you could do laps in a variety of vehicles …..Lamborghini, Ferrari, vette, Porsche, and a couple others.

Problem is too many guys get a thrill by break it the law. By being above the law. Entitlement types.

You mean a race track? They exist, although more and more are going under. There’s event near me that rents out an airport runway once a year. Fastest cars hit 200+ mph on it.

That said, he was in an Urus, which isn’t exactly a track vehicle, outside maybe the drag strip. It’s Lamborghini’s suv. It’s basically an Audi rsq8.

Yeah, street takeovers with dbags driving like assholes and then attacking police, or anyone else, is a thing anymore in our dumpster fire cities. If only the poor kids had racetracks.

Lesson learned. Those NFLPA seminars are really working!

Homer Simpson says "Doyyyyyyyyyy!!!"
Let's be real...there's no fixing stupid. Young people with money are typically going to do stupid things. Hopefully he learns from this. He's lucky no one, including himself, was injured. Next time it might be a Ruggs situation if he doesn't learn.

Yeah. But the adults at the NFLPA- one of whom was a former student who left for private practice- get PAID to try and protect young dumb jocks from themselves. Obviously he wasn't listening. Lucky nothing bad happened to primarily others, and then himself. God watches out for drunks and fools. Addison was just a fool....

Did you need to rant or something? Driving an Urus at 150 mph isn’t a street takeover. What I said had nothing to do with street takeovers. That said, they need to start crushing those kids cars, and making a spectacle out of it, when they’re identified.

Back on topic, NFL players have the means to take their cars to tracks (drag strip is like 60 bucks, autocross maybe a hundred and a hpde is maybe a grand). Lamborghini will even prep the car for you. Christ I take my car (not a Lamborghini) to the track and I’m not in that income bracket.

Yep...pretty common these days. Here is that option at the Vegas track.

Exotics Racing

I bought a gift for a friend to do this when he and I had a GREAT year and he was my support person. Unfortunately, a few days before, his wife tore her Achilles heel. They canceled and opted for front-row seats at a Cirque du Soleil.

I have been told that there are a few roads near the rockies where there is a wink and nod agreement to let people open up their cars. And, of course, from time to time, roads are blocked off for a day to allow you to speed. I know some tracks will let you on for a fee (Mid-Ohio or Nelson Ledges). Lastly, I recall Tail of the Dragon in TN has events where you can take a car and race it. Below is a vid of a $500k wrecked Ferrari.

Arrested in Minneapolis for driving his Lamborghini 140 mph in a 55 zone at 3am. Brainless. Smh.
We lived in Paragould AR for 19 years. A farm owner built a long asphalt track and hundreds of people had drag races every week. I imagine that he charged something. Probably saved young lives over the years, but people of all ages went there.

The dragon hosts events but they're cruises not races. Its a dangerous road, especially if there's any moisture.

This was from one of my VW groups events there, dude went waaaaaaaay off the road.

Didn't mean to attack you but yes I was ranting on street takeovers which happened over the weekend in wonderful Philadelphia.

They're awful, not even really part of car culture in my opinion. It's a terrible social media trend more than anything else. There isn't really some alternate place for them to do it because it doesn't translate to anything legitimate from an automotive standpoint, unlike street racing which is for the most part drag racing you could do at a 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile drag strip. A few tracks near me have drift pads, which actually look really fun, but that's not what the kids doing takeovers care about, its the disruption. I'd be all in favor of legislation that allowed vehicles identified through video participating to be seized and crushed. You can make out the license plates on most of the cars.

And it's not just the driving like maniacs. These are dbags that get off in being lawless. They violently attack police or anyone else that gets in the way. Third world trash.

Third world trash.
What does this mean?

Some idiots did this in the wee hours in Pittsburgh on the Fort Pitt Bridge at the exit from the tunnel. In other words, on an interstate highway where people are exiting from a tunnel. Now if I am wrong at it was the entrance, it's even worse because one gets onto the bridge from a curve without the sight lines one would get from the tunnel.

I am all for the car crushing option.

It means that the the people who do this are scumbags.

People will turn in him faster if he lied about a dog having an emergency than for the speeding.

Depends on the people. Recently learned some people don't give a shit about dogs.

My dog got stung on the 4th and went into anaphylaxis and I rushed him to the vet. A$$hole was blocking the alley my garage is on and when I asked him to move his car, and why, he walked up to my window, looked at the dog panting on my seat and told me "we've all got emergencies" before unloading one more box from his car before he moved it. Dog spent the next 12 hours on oxygen and I'm still ready to beat the shit out of that guy.

I love my dog. But that isn’t an excuse to drive 140. I guess, at least, he wasn’t joy riding but it still is no excuse. The closing speed at 140 makes this life threatening to innocent people. Think about it, if you are driving at 70 mph and change lanes using your mirrors and even blind spot technology, the closing does is 70 mph. You’d never see him coming and fatalities would result

Even worse, it was a 55 MPH zone. And a lot of people drive well below the speed limit. Even pulling out of a driveway or side street you might not see him coming.

At that speed he is covering a quarter mile in about 10 seconds. You could see him at 200 yards and think you have plenty of time to pull out.

He's lucky you didn’t beat the hell out of him. People are assholes unfortunately but you make a good point. Hope he's doing well now.

I drove the speed limit the whole way to the emergency vet. Would have gone a little over but there are 3 or 4 speed cameras on the route. There's no way his dog story is true.

Back on topic. Not going to debate the closing speeds etc, and 140 is insanely fast on a public road, but it was a 6 or 8 lane interstate at 3 am. I think the 55 zone is deceptive. It was I94. I'm shocked there apparently was not alcohol involved. There's footage of them pulled over and he didn't even move to the shoulder, just came to a stop in the passing lane.
