Got an unsportsmanlike conduct foul on MSU CB after OSU running back shoved his finger in MSU CB's facemask.

It was on some lineman away from the play, not on the db.

As DandyDon indicated (and you confirmed), the lineman penalized was from OSU. The MSU DB was penalized on the same play, after the OSU RB shoved his finger through the facemask.

My guess is another official convinced them to call the DB (Nicholson) for a "hard tackle," even though the flag was thrown right after the poke.

That was awful and par for the course.

You know what's classic?

When fans from the team whose opponents are penalized the most in the Big Ten complains about the team whose opponents are penalized the least in the Big Ten getting all the calls.

Penn State Opponent penalties per game - 7.7 (1st in Big Ten, 13th in Nation)
Penn State penalties per game - 5.5 (8th in Big Ten, 84th in Nation)

Ohio State Opponent penalties per game - 4.1 (14th in Big Ten, 126th in Nation)
Ohio State Penalties per game 6.8 (2nd in Big Ten, 37th in Nation)

But yeah, they get all the calls.

And number of penalties is all that matters? I would take 6 false start penalties on first down against me over 3 PI penalties on third and long.

So let me see if I have this straight. If there was no bias then penalties would be about the same. In other words, a band of aggressive thugs playing against a team of disciplined conservatives should get about the same penalty yardage. Got it.

The MSU db, Nicholson, head butted Weber before the finger. The head butt was why there was a penalty.

Ok, you're right. I should have taken yard into account.

Penn State opponent penalty yards per game - 68.1 yards/game(8.8 per penalty) (1st in Big Ten)
Ohio State opponent penalty yards per game - 35.7 yards/game(8.7 per penalty) (14th in Big Ten)

Don't you have your own board?

Apparently you missed the point of my post. How many of those penalties came on first down as opposed to third down? How many of those nullified touchdowns or first downs? How many of those were legitimate vs. questionable? How many obvious penalties were not called? In 2014, Ohio State had twice as many penalties called against them when they played Penn State for almost twice as many yards...which team would you say got more help from the officials? The INT that bounced was not a penalty therefore not reflected in the stats and the FG three seconds after the clock expired was not a penalty. Then throw in where they spot a ball, holds that aren't called, etc and you can get all kinds of help from officials without getting more penalties called or more penalty yardage.

Well if I posted it over there, one of the members over here would just make a thread about it, while taking it out of context or misrepresenting the stats, by the end of the day like they normally do. Figured that I might as well post it over here myself and save them the trouble.

But sorry that the statistics don't fit your narrative.

Shut Up

I was listening to. MSU broadcast on Sirius. They were complaining about the officials, especially blocks in the back during punt returns.

That Clemons guy for MSU has holding calls on consecutive drives. Hard to achieve in the B1G.

Terrible play call. Put three guys into the end zone and let them stand there waiting for the ball, against a team with speed and quickness.

Something tells me next week is going to a real tough game. Sparty's record doesn't indicate the talent they have.
Glad its at Home! Our senior day....jusy cam't see these kids falling short after all they have overcome this year.

2 holds in a row called on OSU in crunch time. Yep those refs are clearly out to keep OSU in the CFP

While my OP didn't specifically say so, I was, of course, implying the fix was in for OSU. After watching the game, I have to admit that did not seem to be the case. I won't go so far as to suggest OSU got jobbed, though, because their penalties were earned. I was still surprised to see them called for OL holding.

Now my concern is that MSU will be a lot more pumped for our game after playing even with OSU.
