I have worked with kids who have behavioral disabilites for 13 years. When I started I got some great advice from a guidance counselor. Never get into a back and forth argument with the kids. No matter what you say or how you say it, they are going to say something back to you every single time. The analogy he used was throwing a tennis ball off of a brick wall. No matter what you do that ball will bounce back to you. The only way to get that to stop is for you to walk away. Some board members need to realize no matter what they say, that tennis ball is going to come back to them. The only way to get it to stop is to stop doing what you are doing and walk away.
