There is at least 2 Olympic field hockey players on this team. My kid probably wont be one of them, but it is fun

Congratulations! I loved field hockey when my daughter played in middle school and high school! It really is a fun sport once high school rolls around. I finally got hold of the rules when she was a senior. Alas, she played lacrosse in college....

Ned, Unfortunately she won't be playing with this group of girls in High school. Most of them are not from our area, and will be attending a private school called Wyoming Seminary. My daughter wants to stay in the public school here called Lake-Lehman
In case you didn't know, dd stands for "darling daughter" a term I learned from parents of WVB players. Hopefully, some of these dd's eventually wind up at PSU. You should be one proud Papa.

The second best player wants to attend Indiana, but I keep teasing her that she should go to PSU with my kid. They play soccer, field hockey, and soccer together.

It's common knowledge that PA, year in and year out, has the best high school talent in wrestling. What's not quite so common knowledge is that that's much more true for field hockey than it is for wrestling. PA wrestlers love to brag that 1/4 or more of the All Americans in wrestling will have a PA high school background. In the case of field hockey, 50%-60% of the US National Team have traditionally come from PA - showing much more dominance than in wrestling. 9 of the 16 girls on the 2012 Olympic team were from PA. 13 of the 26 current national team members are from PA. So if you are the best high school player in PA, you actually do have a shot at the Olympic team.
In a big coincidence, Penn State just announced that former Penn State field hockey player (and State College High grad) Amanda Dinunzio will be joining the US National Team following the Olympics, so maybe the PA percentages will go up. http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-fieldh/spec-rel/020216aaa.html
