Everyone on this board pays for the privilege to express their comments as long as they keep it clean. That being said, here I go.
Going into this season, and especially after the Temple loss, I bet that most predictions were 7-5/8-4. The offensive line was still a work-in-progress and the team was young. As the season progressed, those predictions remained pretty much the same, even though the team was winning. Yes, there were a few posters that predicted a better record and some that predicted worse. Then, after the Illinois blowout, the cool aid was flowing freely and rightfully so, I guess. Blowouts over the last several years have been few and far between. But why would anyone think that a blowout over Illinois would, magically, vault this team to 10-2 or 9-3 with three ranked teams still on the schedule? Even though the team has become more experienced and has made progress, some of the weaknesses still exist, especially against the better teams.
Just about everyone expected the NW game to be a dogfight. In those types of games, there are usually a handful of plays that, had one or two not occurred, the outcome would be different. Today's game was one of those games and, unfortunately, the final score was not in our favor. The loss doesn't mean that, all of a sudden, Penn State becomes a worse team than we were before the game. It simply means that we lost a close one to, according to all polls, a better team. Two weeks ago, we won a close one.
All PSU fans hate to lose, but my advice to those who might want to carry their anger agenda into next week, is to get it off your chest today and wake up tomorrow morning supporting the team and coaches and move on. Keep in mind that we have only lost three games to teams that have a combined three losses - and are all ranked.
OK, I feel better now.
