As if saying the Browns were more talented than the Superbowl winning Eagles was worse enough..

Mychal Kendricks gives Browns (and everyone else) a scouting report on Eagles offense

From time to time, we hear about the information that can be gleaned from a player who played with a team that his current team is preparing to play. The latest installment of Hard Knocks provides an example of that dynamic.

Former Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who now plays for the Browns, provided a scouting report as to three key members of the Philly offense in advance of Cleveland’s preseason game against the Eagles. Though the intended audience was his defensive teammates, the rest of us were privy to it as well.

“Playing with Nick Foles, I realized on his long balls, his deep balls, he has like a teardrop effect,” Kendricks tells the room (and the rest of us). “He’s tall and he likes to drop it literally from the sky. So, corners, the timing’s just a little slower on the ball coming.”

That’s an assessment that other teams could have picked up from watching film. The next one would have been less obvious.

“[Zach Ertz] I think is the best receiver on the team,” Kendricks explains. “Notice I said ‘receiver.’ When it comes to blocking, you hit his f—king ass over and over, he doesn’t want any smoke.”

Kendricks also had a less-than-effusive assessment of the team’s swing tackle, who has played a lot the last two years.

“Big V?” Kendricks adds. “[Halapoulivaati] Vaitai. He’s so big that his size allows him to do what he does. You see, but he doesn’t have the quickest feet and he’s not the strongest. He doesn’t trust his feet at all. You get on him, his confidence will go down.”

It will be interesting to see what the Eagles have to say about the things Kendricks said, and it will be interesting to see whether other teams end up making use of Kendricks’ assessment when preparing to face the Eagles.

That's bizarre. He made no profit and claims he simply relied on a Goldman investor and he is hit with insider trading? I am assuming there is a lot more to the story unless he was strong armed into the plea in exchange for no penalty to help them get the big fish.
I understand the rationale behind the prohibition on insider trading. But IMO it is a very odd crime. In essence as an investor you are expected to hypothetically come into possession of knowledge which could cost you a lot of money. And your response should be to do nothing and accept that loss. And yes, I understand the person on the other end of the transaction may not have the same information so they will be the poor sucker who loses. In other parts of the economy that is known as caveat emptor.

Report is that Kendricks made over a million dollars on the trades and bribed an analyst who then worked at Goldman to provide him with inside information.

Not the "victim" he claims to be....

And now their Tight End is in the middle of a rape investigation.
Not really. Both Njoku and Higgins were already cleared by police and accuser isn't moving forward with any sort of prosecution. The rape occurred in the building they live in.

I can't believe this is considered news.

As the Article notes, watch Foles' trajectory on his deep throws. No secret
No one watches Eagles film and things Ertz loves contact.
Vaitai got smoked last year when he became the starter. He reasonably improved upto and through the playoffs, but no one is mistaking him for Jason Peters.

Yawn

How did that pack of stiffs win a Super Bowl?

FWIW I thought Big V played pretty well down the stretch. That said I am not real happy the way he has played pre season. I think James Harrison found a flaw in his game, but wasnt really big enough to capitalize on it. Now that he is playing bigger DE, I think they are.

That story remind me of an old joke because she though she was in bed with a player, not his fried.

The joke is a woman reports she was raped a week after the incident. The investigator asked why she waited a week and she said she didn't know she was raped until the check bounced

Right. It's like people assume that NFL scouting departments don't know that tons of game footage exists on all of these players. That may be news to message board QBs like us, but anyone worth their salt on an NFL payroll won't take Kendricks' word for it.

Browns release LB Michael Kendricks for insider trading. Fairly unique reason for dropping a player

Browns linebacker Mychal Kendricks has been charged with insider trading relating to investments made four years ago, federal officials announced Wednesday.

According to Philly.com, Kendricks' attorney, Michael Schwartz, said the linebacker is expected to plead guilty in the coming weeks. Kendricks made nearly $1.2 million, NBC Philadelphia notes, according to U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain.

Television writer, Damilare Sonoiki, also has been charged with helping Kendricks in his investments.

Kendricks released a statement Wednesday, admitting to participating in insider trading years ago and apologizing for his actions. He said he "fully cooperated" with the investigation and will repay all of the funds he obtained illegally. He was later released by Cleveland.

Right now, I am reading Secret Empires, a book about how the political class ( both major parties ) accumulates huge amounts of wealth through inside deals often with foreign governments ( especially China ). It’s so disgusting I doubt I will bother to finish it.
Insider stock trading is wrong, but on a case by case basis it’s a drop in the ocean in comparison with what our elected officials are doing.
I know, test board.

That’s too bad. I’ve met him, he’s a nice kid.

We don't often agree but, you are spot on with this. Biggest problem with our current gov't is way too much money involved in every aspect from campaigns, lobbying, PACs, etc.

I don't think it's test board when you are applying the same brush to both parties... which you are. IMO if you go around and ask people what they are voting for you will get answers that do not see the forest for the trees. And, that is intentional. Keep the proles focused on minor matters and you can commit theft in plain sight.

And regarding Kendricks, he knew it was illegal and he should pay the price. His buddy also 100% should go to jail.

So funny....only to the Browns would this happen. I mean, with Johnny Football, the failed drug tests, the owner leaving, the new owner dying of brain cancer, the owner's kid getting killed in a ATV accident, the next new owner's company being indicted for ripping off their customers, to this....the first NFL player ever to get arrested for insider trading. The Browniest thing that can happen.

I guess we know know where Carl Nassib is getting his "ten percent return".

Garrett Taylor was ranked ~60th overall by Rivals iirc. High 4 star. We flipped him from Michigan late. Wade is a true soph. He’s doing fine. No automatic paths to starting when you stack blue chippers class after class after class.

It’s hard to the make the game when you are inside a prison cell.

And it’s why Washington DC and the surrounding area has exploded in population and business activity - everyone wants to get close to the trough

I do (and want to) believe that the vast majority of citizens, regardless of political affiliation, find this practice highly objectionable.
