Just wondering how people think this one will turn out?

Thorn destroyed McKenna and perhaps pure strength is his greatest asset. For all Nick's relentless offense, insane pace, creativity and scrambling ability, perhaps one thing he may be lacking as a true frosh is brute strength (much like Zain his true frosh season).

This should be a nice yard stick for the talented Mr. Lee. What do people think? Predictions? Scores?

I think it will come down to the question if Nick gets caught or not (see Scuffle). The good thing is I think he learns each time in such a situation. Maryland kid threw a lot at him and he came away OK. So, if he doesn't get caught in some Thornish experienced move, he wins 8 - 5

Common opponents never work, but Alber has beaten Thorn this year, and Lee beat Alber, albeit kind of an odd victory in the latter.

We'll see if that matters.

Didn't mean to go that route. Only to show that Thorn has been wrestling well of late.

Prediction?

Nick Lee is gonna bonus him.

Watch.
I hope your right. I think he wins a close one, as the crowd, the travel for Minny, the pressure is all against thorn. But if Nick loses, i think well meet back up here and say darn I think he could have one that.

Nick has that nico full me once, not the next time feel to me.

I can't say I'm an expert on Thorn's style, but the fact that he caught a very positionally sound McKenna twice is concerning when matching with Nick's aggressive but at times vulnerable approach. It's 100% on McKenna that he allowed to happen a second time though. I still think Nick wins, and bonus wouldn't be shocking, though I'm thinking something like 7-5.

Yeah, after getting stuck for 4 NF when he tried a Granby I was shocked when he tried it again, but not shocked that Thorn got another 4 NF.

Note to Lee, don't try a Granby to get off bottom. :D

Win or lose, this match is needed for Nick and the coaches to see where he stands. Either way, tremendous learning experience, so as "a process", can't get hung up on the result as long as the effort is there. Same against McKenna and Van Brill. Then work on your game, and come out firing at Big Ten's and NCAA's.

As a fan, sure, I'd like to see a Nick victory...but more importantly, learn from it either way.

Do you think Van Brill can stay with Nick's pace for 7 minutes?

Is that a trick question? My point was to emphasize the process. Van Brill is #22 in Wrestlestat...it's another opportunity for Nick to learn something about himself.

I believe Nick will win, probably going away...and I'll be cheering for him.

Ok! Agreed!

I'm quite sure no one minimized the importance of process.

And, call me crazy, but I think that discussion of how a highly anticipated wrestling match, involving a Penn State wrestler, might turn out is an appropriate topic for discussion on a Penn State Wrestling Forum.
