The NCAA has announced that as a result of the post game flag planting fight during the Ohio State/Michigan game, 10 players from Boise State, and 10 more players from Iowa State, will be suspended for the first round of the CFP tournament. Done, and Done. 😂

Give credit to Franklin for preventing a similar situation at USC by grabbing the flag and sending the players to the locker room. Ryan Day stood and stared like a dork while his ‘scholar athletes’ started a brawl.
Great point. Didn't even think about this but you're onto something here. There were several ugly incidents of this kind yesterday.

Michigan is at fault for the fight. 100% of the time when you stick your flag in the logo, a fight starts.

Any fan base that is so insecure that they "X" out all "M's" everywhere probably deserves to LEAVE the opposition flag at midfield until the next home game.

Was tough to root for Michigan in this game, notwithstanding championship game, but OSU is the most arrogant fan base in the country. Great to see the OSU fans in the crowd, looks of disbelief. Michigan has second most arrogant fan base, they deserve each other.

Can't we equally agree that Michigan is at fault AND that the flag should stand?
This happened at a lot of games this and last week. This got more press due to the level of rivalry plus the fact that they didn’t disperse once the cops got involved. The mace issue is huge. Several reporters got caught in the wash. Thank goodness the fans didn’t get involved.

Like the big fight that happened at Michigan stadium earlier this year when Texas planted their flag after a win?

The entire flag thing is so stupid and I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets addressed after the season. I like what Franklin did at USC. It just saves a lot of nonsense by not doing the flag thing and he stopped it right away.

Agreed. There is going to have to be some kind of accountability before someone gets hurt. As I said earlier, thank goodness most of the drunken tOSU fans left by that point. If the fans streamed onto the field there is no telling what would have happened.

You don’t think there were some undocumented fan scuffles in the lot afterwards? 😱

I watched the game with a tOSU alum and he was on contact with a lot of tOSU fans (he lives in Columbus). I am telling you that they were shocked. They were prepared for a huge celebration. And not just that they lost but how. UM controlled the LOS almost all day. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the state defending Day today. I have no idea how he survives if they don't win their first round playoff game.

At least the UM coach admitted he should have handled the situation better. But he should have never let the players attempt to plant their flag and maybe this comes from his lack of HC experience. Day, OTOH, was unapologetic.

Kudos to Franklin for preventing this dick move at USC.

This is silly. It's all over a flag. NOT A ... FLAG!! We just got whooped on the field, but I draw the line at a FLAG!

Next time, if I win an away game, I'm pulling my nuts out and dropping my sac on top of the opponents' logo.

Well it was a classless move. On the other hand, too bad OSU, an almost 20 point favorite, didn’t show the same fight while the game was being played. Kept saying to my wife in the fourth quarter when Michigan’s offensively challenged offense was moving the ball on the ground and with conservative passes and Day was cameling up on offense that this is absolutely hysterical and I dislike Michigan more than OSU.

There is no excuse for the Michigan staff. You don’t need HC experience to know that a fight most likely will ensue. The NCAA needs to discipline and fine the coaches for lack of institutional control.

Lack of institutional control for planting a flag? Little much. I don’t like the whole planting the flag thing at all but this is a tad much. IMO

Agree..it is now replete throughout college football. There were several flag-planting fights and a couple of close calls. NC NCState was even worse but didn't get the media attention.

I also have to say that a secondary issue is that the players didn't disperse and had to be pepper sprayed. Not only did it start, once in play, they wouldn't back off.

Michigan was at fault, but this got stirred up with the OSU band taunting them earlier this season. (Shitting on them)

Oh, and I don’t like defending scUM!
Yep...and when you hype a game like this, it isn't surprising. Don't forget tOSU claiming UM cheated to win the last few years and tainting the Natty (true or not).

I don’t know what NCAA language governs it. That is the only reason I used institutional control. If coaches and their staffs are hit with penalties, those type of incidents would end quickly. In this instance, Michigan is most culpable.

Why was this Smith still playing after the first mele? He threw two punches at a Michigan coach. But he is still playing?
