There is a thread titled "2021 NCAA Tournament - Reduced Field?", where the wrestling championships are discussed as having fewer wrestlers.
The article below, from the NCAA, references Fall Sports and the number of teams that will earn a spot in their respective championships. The typical reduction is 25% (Field hockey is 33%, Men's Soccer is 25%, Women's Soccer is 25%, and Women's Volleyball is 25%, to mention several). I would expect the ballpark reduction to be the same for wrestling, or about 24 wrestlers per weight class.
Thought this deserved its own thread.
