NCAA Session 6 Thread

Thought the rule was only for "riding below the knee" - not sure I've ever seen a count started on a "high crotch" hold like that before. No big deal and they called "Stalling" extremely aggressively relative to that rule (more aggressively than I have ever seen before relative to that rule) and aggressively in general, ultimately dinging Mega twice and for a point (including awarding a point with quite a bit of time left in 3rd). Again, no problem with how it was called, but let's see how consistent the way that match was called with how they calling Stalling against Sorenson @49 and I-Mar @57 - especially considering that Mega was extremely aggressive through 2 periods recording 2 TDs from neutral.

People going to b!tch about stalling from the cheap seats.....and they have a gripe.....but who in their right mind wrestles that 3Rd period any differently......even gable would have skated if he had been to that raised platform 2x previously and came up short.

It's on Gillman and the refs ....can't blame nico...the CHAMP!!!!!
I know less about wrestling than most on this board. However, even I know that when Mega got two take downs to zero...that makes him superior for the match.! Yes he stalled in the end. But, he put himself in the position to win . he DESERVED this championship! Soooooo Happy for this kid!

Those guys are out of hand. They make is sound like Nico should have been stalled out of the match.

I don't expect anything less. That board is filled with pure jealousy. They wish they were PSU right now. They cannot stand that PSU wipes the floor with them and that Cael is both recruiting and coaching circles around TnT. The jealousy so seeping though the Internet.

Ditto Gibbons commentary - Mega recorded 2 TDs through the first 5 minutes of the match and clearly was wrestling with a very attacking, aggressive style, but that is the FIRST TIME through THREE DAYS of tournament coverage that I have heard Gibbons aggressively calling for a Stall Call on a wrestler and he started with his repeated statement fairly early in 3rd Period with well over a minute left.

Can anybody shed any light on why Tim Johnson hates Penn State so much? He doesn't even try to hide it. Before the semi-finals, when they had the ESPN announcers on camera, and they mentioned that PSU has opened up a lead, the look on his face was like he was sucking on a lemon.

Clark did a great job against Garrett, but Nahshon wins 7-6. I thought Garrett would have an easier time, but Clark really wrestled a smart match, and is a darn good wrestler.

As wrestling continues to shift toward the East...

Garrett of Cornell gives Iowa their second loss

Last stall on Garrett was a terrible call. Yes, he was on the legs for a 5-count. But Clark touched his hand off the mat before the 5-count started. Action should've been stopped -- and one could argue a stall on Clark for it (though I wouldn't ding Clark because it looked accidental).

You can just say what we all saw. Clark stalled for three periods.

Bigger iowa story than the stalling is that two finals matches and no TDs .....yet they gave up 5 TDs

Something tells me thsee stats will get worse at 149. W OSU win at hwy iowa will be 5th...which is better than CP s 8th place

Iowa with zero offense in the first 2 matches yet its the other wrestlers who are stalling, classic!

Exactly! Hit a friggin shot, Gilman, so your fans don't have to whine about Nico stalling.

BTW, I just watched Clark hang onto Garret's upper leg from the top position for at least 10 seconds without even a count being started if the rule is really "below the waist" and not "below the knee". The way that rule was called @33 was completely inconsistent with the way it was called the match before @25. The last Stall Call on Garret was a complete joke and the match was called completely in favor of Clark to the point of making it absurdly closer than the match actually was (especially no Stall Call on Clark for hanging onto Garret's leg for much of the 3rd Period with not even a count to reduce Garret's RT-Adv below a minute). Completely inconsistent and absurd the way Stalling was called in the first two matches @25 and @33 -- zero consistency!!! 3 Stall Calls on Garret and 2 points to Clark??? Give me a break! Sorenson has no prayer of making it out of the 1st Period without being DQ'ed for Stalling if Garret deserved 3 Stalling calls in that match!!!

Gilman looked like a deer in the headlights, I think the finals were a little big for him. Got taken down twice and ridden. He came forward and earned the stall call in the third, but there was no real sense of urgency that I could see.Maybe next year

The last stall call was BS against Garrett. 7-6 yet 3 take downs to 0 figure that out.

Do they even watch their own guys wrestle. Burack still has not figured out how to shoot. And we'll see what Soresen does. Last time he turtled up for 5 minutes.

It's the same on The Mat. PSU wrestler pins, TF';s, Majors, but they are stalling. Outside of PSU fan posts, there is no PSU talk. Well, they better get used to it.

Before it even started, I turned Volume off and Turned Iron Head on. Putting up with the lag is worth it.

The irony of the stalling cries is hilarious, now as I watch yet ANOTHER oklahoma state wrestler out there stalling, and nope, no calls.
