Sorry for the new thread but I wasn't sure where to put this...

It seems to me that every time people talk about the teams that are threatening to win a title on here or HR (the only two boards I frequent) they bring up PSU, Okie St, and Iowa (if Clark is heathy and a 165 RS get some pulled). tOSU only gets mentioned as a possible outsider, am I missing something?

-Snyder - Champ
-Tomasello - possible finalist
-Bojo - possible finalist
-Micah - undefeated at his new weight
-Moore - solid start at a thin weight
-Martin - returning champ struggling early (keep in mind he won it all as a low seed and when it counted most)
-Rodriguez - AA threat

They could get 3 finalists with 2 champs and up to 7 AA's.

Am I giving them too much credit somewhere or should they be a bigger fixture in the top title threats discussion?

I think so , I think a lot of credit is given to both OSU teams that so far I haven't see. That being said it is early and as the facts change I will change my view. I don't see the guys above threatening us in our title run

They need Jake Ryan to turn it around. 157 is pretty thin as well. Doesn't look likely. Hayes injury also hurt a bit.

Yeah but even if they got 0 points out of 141, 157, and 165...couldn't they resemble past title teams? Granted they'd need to live up to their potential, but any team with potential to AA 7 kids and have more than 1 champ is a scary team come tourney time.

They are definitely still a threat.

I believe knowledgeable folks have given tOSU credit often enough here and on HR, though the Buckeye's may be off the radar for some...not sure why.

I definitely believe they're a factor. When the InterMat Rankings are released later today, I'll tally the theoretical points to see where the pollsters place them...in the meantime, the 12/20 rankings had Okie State, Iowa, PSU and Ohio State only separated by 7 points (Placement + Advancement only).

I think they are in the discussion for a title, to be sure. That said, Rodriguez has not impressed me and I stick to my position that MyMar is ridiculously overrated, as his start has proven, IMO.

They are tough at 133,174 and Hwt, but the good thing we get to see on Feb 3rd on how delusional I am as I don't see them getting any more than that. I don't see Moore beating Cutch. Those 3 weights will generate points at NCAA's but on all others I think we beat them pretty good. Micah will do well but Zain will put up a decent amount more than him. 141 is maybe toss up for some but I am going with JG. I just don't see them being able to keep up and no I don't use any program or model. Sorry just not an engineer my friends, I actually had fun in school.

Rodriguez - Low AA- R12/R16
Tomasello - Finalist
Pletcher - Maybe a win or two
Jordan - 5th/6th
Ryan - 0-2
Burcher - 0-2
Jordan - Finalist
Martin - Mid to Low AA - Could even drop in R12, absolutely stacked weight
Moore - Mid to Low AA
Snyder - Champ

Thats how I see the Buckeyes currently.

Jordan may well be the 2nd best 149 lber in the country

The nature nuts are a contender. The way things look right now they have 1 champ, a possible 2nd champ that could also finish 4th and the 2 Jordans. Bo could finish as high as 2nd probably no lower than 4 and little brother could be 2nd maybe 5 or 6.
I do not know what to make of Martin. He has looked disinterested. The support around that core could get some AAs and score some points, but at the end of the day I believe they are left chasing the pokes and the Lions.

If the Hawks wrestle a damn good tournament the Hawks could surpass the Nuts.

I ran my scores today for what I believe will be the top 5 teams, and got-

1. Penn State 118.5(without Hall), 132.5 with Hall, 6 AA's without Hall, 7 AA's with, 2 champions

2. Oklahoma State 113.5 8 AA's, 1 champion

3. Ohio State 104.5 6 AA's, 3 champions

4. Virginia Tech 96(with McFadden), don't know what they have planned for 133/141,
7 AA's

5. Iowa 93(with Marinelli), 6 AA's, 1 champion

Ohio State will certainly make some noise, I have them with the most individual champions. Their problem is that they have those three weights(41/57/65) where they'll be doing well to score 3-4 combined points in the tourney. I did not have Rodriquez AA'ing, although he certainly could. The other six guys I did

It's going to be a close race no matter what. PSU, tOSU, and Okie State

125- PSU, Okie, tOSU (Confident Suriano will place higher and outscore both.)
133- tOSU, Okie, PSU (Nate and Kaid high AA. Both will score much more than JC.)
141- Okie, PSU, tOSU (Heil will outscore Gulibon and Pletcher combined.)
149- PSU, tOSU, Okie (Zain with megabonus. Micah and Collica out place Sorenson!)
157- PSU, Okie, tOSU (Nolf super bonus. Smith top 4. Ryan lays an egg.)
165- Okie, PSU, tOSU (No clue with VJ and Rodgers? Burcher zilch.)
174- tOSU, Okie, PSU (Jordan top 2. Crutch low AA. Rashelli prob R12)
184- PSU, Okie, tOSU (Bo 2nd. Boyd top 4. Martin R12.)
197- tOSU, PSU, Okie (Moore top 4. Cassar low AA. Weigel?)
Hvy- tOSU, PSU, Okie (Snyder by landslide. Nevills top 6. Shafer R12)

I say Bo has a real shot against Dean.
