...on the same field where the Vikings are hosting the Packers tonight on Monday Night Football!...
...it’s hard to imagine 10 wrestling mats located on the field probably stretching between the 20 yd lines...
...bring your field glasses in March...
... :)

Have to watch it mostly on the big screen but what match lol finals be only one so that be ok I guess..I believe our seats
are in section 200 so 2nd deck some dam place.

...someone suggested they’re only using half the stadium...
...would that be only one side or only one end like Maryland used to do for wrestling in their arena...
... We have tickets in first row of first upper deck on the “50” but no one indicated how the mats would be positioned...
... :( ...

Very hard to believe since it’ll be 8 mats. JK.

seems like they are going to go with 2 mats in the middle on each side and 2 on each end with space between the mats.

they sold tickets around the entire arena.

It will be very interesting to see, the arena allows in a lot of natural light so that will be cool to see.

We have been to New York, Cleveland and Pittsburgh, this one had zero appeal and we are watching from home.

NYC was the best followed by Pittsburgh with Cleveland coming in a distant third. ( have they opened the doors yet in Cleveland?).

Sell as many tickets as you can to make as much damn money as humanly possible. 'Murica.

Nothing will stop me from attending. Always looking for the good in things, our group will make the absolute best of this venue. Will stop back AFTER the event to share what went well, and what could be improved. And if our answer is the opinion that the championships should never be held in a football stadium again, we will say that.

I attended the nationals at UNI in a domed football stadium. Terrible weather and viewing. No thanks !

They are absolutely using the whole field. This was in a recent article possibly linked here... they said at one point they intended to use an end zone only mat configuration but then realized that they would be wasting a vast majority of the first level seats. So they reconfigured and went with the whole field being used. They also said they had already sold 18k to the public before they took into account the 18-20k that schools will distribute to their fans.

Same here, Roar. I’ll be there to support the team no matter the location or venue. And I shall reserve judgement on said venue until I actually experience it.

I wanna chop off your foot. I swear it won't be a negative for you afterwards.

Sometimes one has to use their sense before getting into a situation. I lived in Manhattan in the late 1970s until the mid 1980s. I learned this. If a boatload of money doesn't mean anything to you, god bless.

Because amputation and attending a wrestling tournament are nearly equal situations.

But seriously, I’ll be at every national tournament until my health doesn’t allow it. Not sure why that would be an issue for anyone.

Money vs. the quality of the experience. It's a football stadium.

We get it, Matter. You're not happy about NCAAs being in a football stadium. You don't think the experience will be any good. We get it now. We got it in the last thread in which it was discussed. And, we even got it in the thread before that.

I hope you kept the apartment. That would balance out the $ vs. quality equation.

Thanks pa, sort of took the words right out of my mouth.

The good news is you really don’t need to wait for the allocation. Shortly those tickets prices will return to the Pre Cael era of about $100.

Here's the additional, and overriding, issue. Once the NCAA gets a stadium-size payday for the wrestling tournament, it will become the norm. By accepting their terms, fans are ensuring future NCAAs will be at similarly sized venues. If, on the other hand, people refused to buy tickets for the tournament in a football stadium, the NCAA would be forced to have it in appropriately sized venues. Basketball is the obvious parallel.

For me, it's not a tough choice. With the television/streaming coverage that is available, I'm not handing over my money to look on the Jumbotron to see matches or packing binoculars to watch the action.

“Son of a nutcracker. Matter chopped my damn foot off and said foot is now sitting in a bag, riding shot gun with me, as I drive to the ER. And I just didn’t see Christmas break going like this tbh.”

Our HS state has been held in a football sized stadium(tacoma dome) for years. Theres 5 classifications and the girls. 4 mats each until finals. The viewing isnt bad for whatever class you are sitting closest to but to follow anything across stadium you need field glasses. I love the idea for more people to watch live. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. Even the tv viewing will be a different perspective. Watching from home this year. See ya in St Louis

Why do you ever go? You can see much better on TV at home every year no matter what type of building it is in.

I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes. If I don’t care for it I’ll skip those years it goes back.

How do you feel about Rutgers hosting Big Tens?

See Rutger's sold out but how big is it ? Only a little over 8,000 right or something like that.

I’m going as it’s right in my backyard. Not thrilled with the venue but I have never been to the National championship before. No way I could turn down the opportunity to see our guys compete for another title. Looking forward to hanging with PSU folks I have met through this board and at the B1G Championship last year in Minneapolis. If it’s as exciting as that was I’ll be very happy.

...I’ll go to the NCAAs wherever they’re held primarily for the wrestling but also for the opportunity to keep up some contacts with friends who I only see each March at the tournament....
...it’s also a time to initiate some new contacts with fans from other schools who share my love of the sport...
