Nico – nothing to say. Tough loss at VaTech but kept his sight on the big prize. Really wrestled well in the championship! What a great career starting with his great 4 NCAAs
JC – how do you not make a spot for this AA wrestler. Did he ever have a bad loss or lose to someone he was supposed to beat? Webster’s definition of a team player. Makes you think he beats Brewer if he could get one or two more cracks at him.
JG – have to be a disappointing year for JG – starting with a heartbreaking loss at VaTech – one that he easily could have won. JG loss to too many people he should have beaten this year. Could have, should have won the two that he lost. Still my fav wrestler and here is to a stellar Sr year!
Zain – outstanding!!! Nothing to add.
Jason – The kid you wanted to tie Cael’s record. The loss that hurt the worse. Different approach this eve – almost had IMar a few times… I know he wants that last 20 seconds back. Stalk, stalk, stalk…. Finally IMar shoots back. Would of liked him to try and ride… Undefeated next year.
GM – nice tourney, but here again he could have won the two matches he lost. Great guts and team player. Reminded of English for a while!
BN – ouch. He is going to hurt for quite some time… Can’t imagine Martin didn’t practice that counter. Again, we lost on counters. Outstanding year. Just like JN, he has a role model in Zane!
Cutch – Can’t lose the first round. Lost his O later in the match. Not sure if he was hampered by something. Pulled off a great year and here’s to next.
MM – unbelievable Captain. He was waiting and never got an opening. He did try and mix it up and look for an opening a few times and each time almost paid the price.
NN – Wish he could have qualified somehow. Experience would have been great
Sad that we didn’t go 5 for 5 as the guys seemingly deserved it. Overall great tourney. Thought some of our losses were to those we shouldn’t be losing to (IMHO). Next year is going to be interesting as a lot of champs come back, AAs, kids that were upset, and kids that were hurt.
Finally – ESPN3 show – not bad but would have liked to have some ‘new’ voices speaking. The Kemp and the guy from the ACC seemed level headed. As much as like and admire the legend, Gable, commentary does not suit him well unless he is talking about Iowa. They have to get some better commentators. Get the feeling a lot of folks don’t like the champions hailing from the Ohio and East.
Tech may have gutted out the most impressive tourney. Look at what they did – without their best scorer (Dance) – good form.
Tournament full of upsets and we got it a bit at the end.
