Never tried Norton's (any really) VPN...at hotel...performance lost seems zilch!

Been using Webroot for three years now. Experienced a few glitches in Year 1 but they worked them out. Highly recommend it along with their anti-virus.

You shouldn’t see much (maybe up to 5%) performance loss from a well engineered and short path VPN. There is overhead and delay introduced but it can be kept small and those things shouldn’t keep you from using VPN on public and/or unencrypted networks.

At the risk of stepping on fair’s toes, I can set you up with a shite VPN if you want one. :)

I also used to use VPN. Because of my work, I have to visit foreign sites, access to which is denied from our ipi. Still, recently I noticed that many sites have learned to detect VPNs, so it becomes ineffective. I used a proxy server as a workaround, and some forum users advised me to use proxy servers. I had no idea there was an intermediary between your computer and the website. I bought a proxy from soax.com, and for a good reason. It's much more efficient than using a VPN. In addition, it is unreal to know that you are using a proxy.

First mention was Norton, we use it probably because most advertised. Every time i open Norton, they try to sell me something new. Local techies are not too high on Norton.
Norton was great in the Disk Doctor and Commander days. They quickly became a laughing stock to techies not long after that.

Nord VPN worked well for me when I was in China about 3 or 4 years ago. Since the VPN acts like an extra hoop for communications to go to and from your computer, I would expect performance degradation. How much, I don't know.

The biggest problem for me was finding the best VPN to use. I've tried a lot of them no one satisfied my work needs and, of course, Netflix. I started off with one that was super easy to set up, but it turned out that it didn't have enough features to do what I wanted. Then I tried another one that was really good at what it did, but it was expensive and not user-friendly. It took me months before I found this VPN from https://proxycrawl.com/scraping-api-avoid-captchas-blocks that met all of my needs.

No problem for me using ExpressVPN and Netflix all over Europe. Or any other streaming service for that matter, including BTN.
