Read over on scout that Nevills, Rasheed and Moss are wrestling at the US Collegiate Championships this Sunday. I'm sure the coaches are looking to get Nevills some matches for qualification purposes. Assuming Rasheed is there to see how he performs in a tournament setting. Moss and Livingston also making the trip.

Unless Nevills gets six matches out there, he won't have enough matches to earn a qualifying berth at heavyweight anyway for the Big Ten.

Edit: Pidiot, 8-2 is six, not five...duh!

Good to hear, Nevills and Rasheed need the increased mat time before BIGs.

This would be to get more in match shape, regain a feel for different body shapes and sizes and raise the arm. He cannot qualify the Big Ten, he has to wrestle his way into the NCAA by placing in one of the allocation spots, by displacing a second guy....assuming Snyder grabs one too. Matches could impact seeding, if he could get seeded at all since similar criteria for seeding as is used for allocation standards.

Rasheed has clearly changed his regimen to try and be tournament ready. This would be as you say, see how he performs in a tournament.

I don't think Nevills is there for a qualifying berth for B1Gs. Probably there for at-large considerations if he doesn't earn his way in. The B1G is going to be 2 light on auto berths.

This tournament is not listed on trackwrestling. Any idea where we can follow results?

What's the level of competition? Can wins at this tournament really affect Nevills chance of qualifying for an at large bid?

It is on Track but not easily found. Select 2016 college, then NCAA. When today's and past matches appear, hit search, and filter on start 2/21.

A number of D1 teams are going. Guessing it'll be largely shirts.

I seriously doubt Nevills can get enough matches for an auto spot -- he needs 6 more D1 opponents before B10s.

I just checked at trackwrestling and there are only 34 wrestlers registered for the tournament at this time. For PSU:

Livingston
Moss
Nevills
Rasheed

As of now, the only teams listed with entries are:

ASU (10)
New Mexico Highlands (3)
Northern Colorado (4)
PSU (4)
U of Penn (1)
Stanford (3)
Wyoming (9)

ASU and Wyoming might as well just wrestle a dual.

trackwrestling uses session IDs, so I can't post a link. I just followed Seton Hall Pirate's instructions from FOS:

"Go to Season, 2015-2016 college, then NCAA, and search for events on 2/21/16, and click on the US Collegiate Championship. Then click on, for example, Penn State (although irrelevant which team name you click on), then wrestlers."

isn't this the tourney for shirts and non-starters? The one Chance was intereviewed in last year and got cut short due to weather? If so, i didn't know varsity kids could wrestle in it. Saw Ashnault win it in Richmond two years ago...

There's 87 wrestlers so far. Air Force alone has 24 participating.

...probably should have entered Messiah Tourney and gotten 3-4 bouts...
Messiah would be against largely non-D1 opponents. This will be much closer to the competition they'll see at B10s and nationals.

yeah did a search for end date 2/21/2016 in Colorado and it's like the 3rd tournament down. Hopefully enough 285s to make it worth the trip.

Thanks for the heads up. When I clicked on the WRESTLERS link , got the message that the info wasn't available to the public yet. Oh well.

It doesn't matter if it is against shirts or starters. It needs to be against kids on a D-1 roster to count for winning pct. And he is NOT going to qualify the B1G for a spot but this could be vital for him to get Bronze if he finishes 6th in the B1G when they allocate 5 (or 7th if they allocate 6, or 8th...). I'm guessing he could get a win against a guy who gets an AQ spot and still finish 1 out of qualifying (because of Snyder). Then you need to rack up the credentials (winning pct. being one, wins against AQ, coaches ranking, etc) to get the at large.

I could be off base on this, but think I'm correct. Roar will probably know better.

His bracket type said "5 man Round Robin" which is good. Maximizes the number of matches wrestled with a low number of entries in his weight class.

I thought the NCO was in Virginia or N.C.?
Different event.
EDIT: Different than the Colorado event, just now seeing that this difference was caught earlier in the thread.

The National Collegiate Open is the same event. (remember: they're the presenting sponsors of the Dual Impact Index) It's moved around from year to year...the first few years at Clarion, then in Richmond, then in Fairfax, and this year it'll be in Ohio. (if I'm missing somebody I apologize)

See you all in a few hours!

So we are all right? haha

Thanks for clarifying :)

Nevills up 7-0 after 1. Track is a pain in the butt... can't see much... brackets, etc.

You're dead on, dice!! Right now, I'm guessing 7 allocation slots for the B1G. I'm sure Snyder will steal an NCAA spot, so Nick will have to beat out a Peck and Black type kid to earn a spot. Otherwise, finish one place out of auto-qualifying, then hope.

looks like the weights with 5 or less, they set up a round robin stye so everyone will get at least 3 matches. Kade and Shakur have enought to go normal bracket style and they will get 3 matches if they win out.
caleb lost 8-5

It is set up so each HWY will get 4 matches.

moss lost 8-5 was up in the 3rd and must have given up a 6 pointer... not enough time to come back...
