New Beaver Stadium to be nearly unrecognizable

I'd like to see the whole Damn place white. We can still keep the same name.

But, it will forever be dubbed, "The White House."

Imagine the whole Damn building white with 100K fans all dressed in white. The only Blue? Those on the field.

Now, THAT would be cool.
I think that's part of why limestone came to my mind....

I was hoping this is what they would do... tier the sides (if they keep that part of the design). The way the stadium is now, noise goes up and out. Closing in the end zones helped, but there's still noise loss with the long sloped sidelines bleachers.

Which ones have you been to, and don't say it's louder than Beaver stadium because it isn't.

Missouri in 2014
Alabama in 2015
Mississippi State in 2015
LSU in 2016

One of the greatest atmospheres in college football.

I am sure that picture is not to scale and there will be changes made before the first shovel, but if they really plan on placing a significant number of seats that appear to be higher than the highest row in the south end zone ... good luck selling those.

I sat in the very last row for the 2005 OSU game with my then fiancé, a high as we were they seats were still awesome and we could see all the action. You aren't as far away from the field as you would think. And honestly those seats were 1,000 times better than the crap seat I had at the Nebraska game in Lincoln a few years before that. We were so low and back from the field you couldn't see 1/2 the action.

The wind up there is horrific during the cold weather games. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

Are we really going to lose 4000 seats?

I heard initial reports said that but recently I thought that had been changed.

It's true, but there's at least 4000 seats open at every game, save maybe 1 primetime game. Of course the prices are going to increase to make up the lost revenue, be it in ticket prices and/or parking. They could serve beer in the non-student sections and pay for everything in 25 years, though.

I don't want to change beaver stadium

Just widen the seats and upgrade bathrooms and concessions.

I don't want beer

Seen too many horrendous fans in the last couple of years. Don't need more beer in the stadium.

It'll be nearly recognizable, and be so much better for it.

Constant sellouts, even louder than the current stadium could ever be, actual comfortable seats. Wifi that actually works. But hey, hang onto tradition.

Sorry, my phone seems to be fudged up

Crazy question...will the acoustics be effected? Meaning do you think any thought put into the structure and how "noise levels" can be impacted?

Just think go places like Seattle's Stadium...even Pegula though separate venues of course...

Distinct advantage with how loud crowd can be...?

Above is a rendering of what Beaver Stadium is expected to look like after being renovated.

Ditching “the Beav’s” dumpish look, though? That will take some getting used to for longtime tailgaters and former East Halls residents who’ve spent years and decades gazing off at a hap-hazard mass of steel and concrete. It might be a weird jumble, but it’s Penn State’s weird jumble, full of warm memories. (Well, and cold ones if you’ve been to enough November games.
College football’s charm, which Penn State trades on heavily, is that it’s not the pros. Part of that is playing games in historic, grungy buildings such as the Horseshoe at Ohio State or the Big House at Michigan as opposed to the antiseptic palaces of the NFL.

Penn State will be walking a fine line in this renovation of maintaining that feel while upgrading the interior infrastructure to better serve fans who spend a lot of money to attend games those seven or eight weekends per year.

A lot has been made of plans to reduce the capacity slightly, but 4,000 or so fans won’t change the game day experience all that much. What will make this a success is maintaining that sense of homecoming alums get when the stadium peaks into view coming down the hill on Interstate-99.

Let’s see if Penn State can do it right

With the idea of Beaver Stadium being unrecognizable after the renovations, it is worth remembering that it is sometimes referred to as "The Stadium that Joe Paterno Built". Maybe after the renovations, they will call it "The Stadium that ira lubert Built". I'm sure that has occurred to ira.

You do realize it is quite easy to get hard liquor into the stadium? So why not allow beer sales and let get some revenue from that? Also implement a policy similar to what is in place in other stadiums where if you are ejected from a game you lose your season tickets?
