A company has recently purchased two waste coal power plants right here in PA. These types of plants are generally paid to not produce power, but to stand by for when demand on the grid is high, then fire up and produce. However, their new owners have other ideas. Rather than being for peaking power, the majority of their 165 MW will be used to power nearby bitcoin mining operations.

It makes me wonder why these mining ops don't install wind turbines or solar panels. Any ideas, @rumble_lion? @PaoliLion?
