New York City Mayor Eric Adams Laments Lack of Communication with President Biden amid Worsening Migrant Crisis
According to a reliable report on Thursday, President Biden and New York City Mayor Eric Adams have not spoken for a year, while the Democratic mayor continues to hold the federal government responsible for the migrant crisis.
It is noted that their last conversation took place in January. White House officials confirmed that Biden has not publicly or privately discussed Adams.
Besides the lack of communication, Adams is currently under investigation to determine whether his 2021 campaign received illicit donations from the Turkish government.
Adams has consistently expressed his belief that the city has been abandoned by Washington, D.C. During a recent town hall, he stated, “D.C. has abandoned us, and they need to be paying their cost to this national problem.”
Adams had planned meetings at the White House on November 2 but reportedly canceled them upon arrival in D.C. Furthermore, he recently announced budget cuts in various departments, including the police, sanitation, and education, due to the substantial costs associated with managing the influx of migrants.
In a statement, Adams explained, “For months, we have warned New Yorkers about the challenging fiscal situation our city faces. To balance the budget as the law requires, every city agency dug into their own budget to find savings, with minimal disruption to services.”
Over the past year, New York City has grappled with an influx of over 100,000 migrants. Back in September, Adams ominously predicted that the migrant crisis would “destroy” the city.
During a town hall meeting, he expressed his concern, saying, “Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this. I don’t see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City… We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month.”
It is worth mentioning that Adams was removed from Biden’s campaign advisory board in May due to his public criticism of the president’s handling of the border crisis.
