New York prison escapees heading to or in Pennsylvania?

See the link. Per cnn.com:

"Witnesses spotted two men on June 13 walking near the Gang Mills rail yard on Rita's Way in the town of Erwin," police said. "The next day, two men with the same description were spotted walking along County Route 115 in the town of Lindley, heading toward the Pennsylvania Border."

Greeeeat. The PA state police already had trouble finding 1 criminal in the woods this year. Now we're going to repeat that again with these 2 NY escapees??? ;)

These guys are being spotted on primary roads (such that they are in that corner of the state)? Must have developed a "capture us please" wish. Kinda thought they'd be staying off anything traveled and keeping to the plentiful woods.

Parts of those woods no doubt are difficult to traverse, especially during or after rainfall. Plus, one has to assume that they have little food, so they are probably wandering along main roads hoping to find any place with food (which they likely would have to steal). The concern, of course, is that as time goes on, they will get more and more desperate, and they will kill someone to get whatever they need (food, car, shelter).

Judging from how well the escape went and the intellect required to enact such a plan, I highly doubt these guys are traversing main roads. My money is on these sightings being BS.

Agree.

I highly doubt that this plan didn't include a plan for logistics (cash, credit cards, ID, clothes, disguises, transport, etc.). It is scary to think about where they could be. Time for an ammo purchase.

Reading more about it....my bet is that these guys are either still in the immediate vicinity of the prison, or long gone by now.

I think the tailor shop hottie was a pawn or secondary option. No carjackings, unexplained robberies, and in-prison cellphone use makes me lean toward long gone via outside help.

Correct.

They are gone. At this point they're out of the country.

Clearly she was used for her looks. But anyways I have to think these guys would need some really good connections to leave the country. Something im not sure they had after being imprisoned for over a decade. Also, that would probably cost alot of money, because I doubt anyone whose helping them would do it for free. I tend to think they're still in the vicinity.

You say that as definitively as Franklin was at University Park Airport days before he actually showed up in Happy Valley and was announced the new coach.

In other words, you have no idea.

Their best chance to leave the country was obviously to go 20 miles from Dannemora to Canada. The border in those parts is rural, and they could have just walked across. That could be what they did, but there is no indication of that yet.

That could be, but all we know about their "plan" was that joyce mitchell was supposed to pick them up after they broke out. Of course, that didn't happen. For all we know, they had no contingency plan and little food, money, etc. on them and are wandering desperately trying to survive.

It is my sincere hope that you are correct!

CNN now is reporting that there was a "credible sighting" of matt and sweat near Friendship, NY today. The area is being considered a "hot spot".

I'm waiting for them to be spotted with Neuheisel at a restaurant in State College soon. ;)

We've heard that PSU employees fear speaking out. Maybe the university is looking to hire some muscle. ;)

Well with the current BoT, and input from people like Peetz, one of these 2 may be up for next PSU president. ;)

:D

Of course, there will be some controversy when richard matt succeeds barron. It will be forgotten by 2017.

Oh, and PSU will find a cozy, high-paying position for sweat. The university can never have enough overhead.

I read about the shift on cnn.com a little while ago. Unfortunately, they may be many steps behind these guys, if they are at all on the right track. Sightings may be false, the break-in may have been perpetrated by someone else, etc.

Yeah- thought I just saw an article headline this morning that the focus is going back to the immediate prison area. Bottom line is they could be anywhere and the NY state police are jumping all over based on supposed sightings.

Gut tells me this latest one is for real. Cops all along figured they were still nearby, but had to drift outward to investigate other tips. Now they can get back to what they were doing all along. Just a matter of time now.

They are saying now that a suspect's DNA has been found in the burglarized cabin.

I can't watch CNN's coverage of this story anymore since they have Sara Ganim on the scene. The lying bitch has lost all credibility with me.

Question: Why is the fellow stroking the rail with a stick? Is he feeling for vibrations in the rail?

I saw Tonto place his ear to the rail to determine if a train was coming or persons walking the rail.

Let me know when these two monsters are CAUGHT! Until then, somebody should be putting a bullet in the head of that murderer groupie who helped them escape.

Maybe just a walking stick he is using as a support while climbing up that grade.

I think you're right. Apparently dna found with bottled water or a peanut butter jar in a cabin not far from the prison. It just seems odd that in all the searching so far- they are right back where they started.

I don't find it odd at all.

They've got everyone conditioned to think anytime there are two see men walking alone (with each other, that is) in a strange area.....it must be Matt & Sweat.

Unless they had other getaway help, IMO, the only way they've been able to stay "free" is by laying very low.

I find it odd in the sense that in the 3 or so weeks since the escape- they haven't even cleared the immediate prison area apparently. We will see what happens. A law enforcement official has now said he expects them to be caught in the next 24-48 hours.
