NFL 1st round victory margins so far… 20, 14, 24, 12. Just curious…

Does the NFL playoff selection system need to be overhauled?

Do we need to re-think seeding process?

Shrink the field?

Blow it up and start all over?

They would benefit from a committee so the Steelers wouldn't have wasted a spot after losing their last 4 heading into the playoffs.

The issue with college football wasn't the blowouts. Notice no one complained about Tennessee. It was the Penn State and Texas were playing while Boise and ASU weren't. Just like the Vikings should have a home game....that's a tweak they need to fix. Pretty sure the NBA fixed that already.

I think the growth from 12 to 14 watered things down a bit, but it creates tv.

High seeds are supposed to win. The NFL at least has specific criteria for getting in. There is no bitching about the 7 seed.

College could fix theirs if they ever move on from polls. The committee is just another poll.

Everybody that complains about college football finally getting it right (mostly), conveniently forgets that most first round matchups are noncompetitive games. In every sport.

The NFL is as close to perfect competitively as you can get. Change the kickoff rules back, make all referee crews call pass interference and holding consistently with the same criteria, and leave the rest alone.

There was one point in the Eagles game where there was a call against the Packers and the announcers said " by the letter of the law, it was interference" but it should not have been called!" There you have it. Penalties should not be called by the letter of the law, therefore just a little bit of holding, a little bit of intervene, etc should not be called, and often isn't!

I like the way Gene Steratore explained his approach. If a player was getting an unfair advantage and it had an affect on the play he was obligated to make the call. Otherwise he was reluctant to insert himself into the game. But the point is they should all be reading from the same playbook instead of each doing their own thing.
