NFL Draft, Day 2 (R2 & R3) Thread

Interesting how medically disqualified Jamel Dean was at Ohio State, becomes a star at Auburn and goes in round three. Good for him not giving up on football regardless what one staff tells you and finding your way.

I think we all knew it wasn't gonna be a big year for us this draft, but I'm seeing some future first rounders on this team in a couple years and that's how a team like Clemson got there. How many Clemson players were drafted a few years back?

I didn't watch a lot of Stanford games last year, so I don't have a good sense of Arega-Whiteside. However, I watched pretty much every Birds game, and I'd rate Safety, LBer, OL, and DL ahead of WR, in terms of positional needs of the Eagles.

Is Arcega-Whiteside better than Parris Campbell, the tOSU WR taken 2 picks after the Birds pick of JJ A-W? And since Safety seems like a real need for the Birds, it hurts that Nasir Adderley was taken 3 picks after JJ A-W, and Taylor Rapp was taken 4 picks after JJ A-W.

Puzzling pick by the Eagles. I can only assume that they had JJ A-W rated really high, and/or they didn't share my concerns about S, LBer, OL, or DL.
I have seen a WHOLE LOT of JJ Arcega-Whiteside. He is a big dude, and more of a possession WR than a speed burner. He can GO GET the ball, and is particularly adept at high pointing his catches. Very few DB's will be able to knock the ball away from him if it's a jump ball, and fewer still will be able to take it away. He is money in the red zone.

I say all of this despite the fact that he played for the frickin' 'Furd.

Edit: Although this kid is generally considered more of a possession receiver than a speedster, he’s not slow. He ran a 4.49 forty at Stanford’s Pro Day.

Which may be an indicator that the coaches (and the team) did not necessarily underachieve this year. Sometimes you are what your record says you are. Everyone was up in arms over Kentucky.....but they had some decent talent.

How many Clemson players stayed and competed an ‘extra’ year??? I think all 3 DL could have come out last year a chose to stay

And that the sky is not falling for this upcoming season because of everyone that we’re losing. So many other teams have lost multiple top three round picks and aren’t expected to even take a small step backwards, yet the pundits and many fans on this board think we’re going to drop off the planet because of all we lost...which might be true if we weren’t recruiting at a very high level. I’m not sure why players graduating, leaving early for the NFL, or entering the transfer portal doesn’t even cause a blip on the radar but completely destroys our program in some people’s minds.
