Mani - about right
Shareef - about right
Connor - too low (I say 3rd-4th round)
Miles - too high (I say 6th-7th round)
Trace - about right
Bates - too low (I say 6th-7th round)
Givens - about right

Wish they had the rule that if a players isn't drafted they could return to college. Might not make any difference for the PSU players, but some that believed they would be drafted might appreciate the choice to return...

The problem is any player coming back may not have an available scholarship.

AND

Academically they will have missed a semester of classes.

AND

They will have missed winter workouts AND spring practices AND the Blue-White game.

Agree conceptually but logistically don’t see how it could / would work.

Then we would have most anyone eligible going into draft and you’d have chaos since signing day is Feb. and the draft isn’t until Apr. 22

Yep, it would have to be contingent on an available scholarship. And the player would have to still be academically eligible. But if a player is working out for the NFL, possibly training like most potential NFL players do before the draft in FL, and possibly attending the combine, I don't believe they would have trouble hitting the ground running when they get back to the college program they were in. Any player that is contemplating going to the NFL receives limited value from the B/W game, and is experienced in the teams strategies and play book.

They should have the same opportunity as a basketball player, as long as they don’t sign with an agent, they can participate at the combine. They then have 10 days to withdraw and maintain their eligibility. I do not believe they are guaranteed a position at their former team.

Would that be the new "Spurned by the NFL Portal"

Nope. Decisions have consequences. It's moronic to leave early unless you are a sure thing or just hate being in school. Best of luck to these guys, but no.

Moronic in your opinion. But your circumstances and opinion are not what each young man with potential NFL talent faces. Life circumstances also push some players to take a chance on the NFL....

It's about giving the players the potential option. Some players are set on giving the NFL a try just because they are ready to leave school and don't care about finishing a degree at that point in their lives. Others are unsure, and the option to return may be beneficial to them.

That seems about right to me. I really didn't understand McGovern or Bates leaving. I didn't think McGovern had a good season at all.

Miller will go earlier, IMHO. Kid is going to do great at the combine and he had great "per game" stats but missed a lot of snaps during the season. DE is becoming the third or fourth most important position in football (QB, CB, WR, DE). The key to defenses, today, is to be able to cover in man while putting pressure on the QB.

I like the offense and I like the scheme. I do often wonder if that type of scheme is helpful to OL development. Would like to have seen last years line in an offense where they knew it was run or pass on each play and could block accordingly.

We could have a draft portal to comment on as well. Lol

These kids get pretty solid evaluations and for some another year at Penn State isn’t likely to change their draft position significantly. A great showing at the combine or proday could help some of these kids. Others could benefit if there is an early run on their position. I do think Connor’s ability to play center or guard will push him closer to the 3rd round if his combine numbers are good. AO will go in the first 2 rounds but who goes next is tougher to pick. I say Connor

You do realize that when the first trade is made, before or during the draft, it turns into a Chinese fire drill?

Like I said, decisions have consequences. I had lots of potential business talent while in school, but I didn't leave school early to take a chance on my career b/c not having a degree would have put my financial well-being at risk. Like I said, unless you are a sure thing, you hate school, or as you note, have overwhelming life circumstances, it's moronic. Best of Luck to these guys.

I do think Givens is the most likely to regret his choice. But his effort makes betting against him tough. Good luck to all

Yep, like you said........

But since there have been other major revamps of eligibility and transfer rules recently, it would not be surprising if something is done to allow college football players to return to college football in the event what they have been led to believe about their potential draft value in not reality.

No doubt. But for those that come out of Pro Day, individual team workouts, or college team "pro days", and then falling out of the draft, possibly then only being a potential free agent, there may be some that would want to return to finish their degree if they didn't have one. Would not seem to impact PSU much as CJF's program seems to get most their degree in 4 years or less any way. Who knows. But giving 20-22 year old's more options, when those options could include finishing a degree, is not a bad thing....

but If you are not going to be a 1st or 2nd rounder , maybe 3rd, but that is iffy, you should stay in school for lots of reasons, mostly to get better as a player if the NFL is your goal. Its not me saying that, the NFL says that.
