Having advanced from the sectional championships to the regional championships (today), Nick Lee won his QF match at 132 with a fall at 49 sec. Joe Lee was a bit slower winning his 145 lb. QF match with a pin at 1:06.
Update:
QF – Nick Lee WBF in 49 sec.
QF – Joe Lee WBF in 1:06
SF - Nick Lee WBF over Schaefer at 2:49.
SF - Joe Lee WBF over Wilson in 32 sec.
It seems that Nick has been watching Nolf. He played catch and release running out to a 16-4 lead before finding the opportune moment for a pin. Joe wasted no time against a quality opponent (33-5) pinning Wilson in 32 seconds.
Finals:
Nick Lee WBF over Josh Elpers (34-2) in 57 sec.
Joe Lee MD over Austin Bethel (37-3) 15-4.
A takedown clinic by Joe to avenge a loss in the sectional. Bethel surprised Joe Lee in the sectionals catching Joe for a pin after Joe had built up a 6-2 lead and seemed to be in command.
Meanwhile Chad Red (at 132 in a different regional) pinned his first two opponents in 13 seconds, then 14 seconds. Last week, nobody at the sectionals lasted longer than 14 seconds. Red was simply walking out on the mat, taking them down and flattening them like they were cardboard cutouts. In the finals Red prevailed with a TF 19-4 in 5:26.
