DT is "the Magic Man", Ed Ruth was "Easy Ed". Heck Zain already has a couple (Z-train or Z-pain). Is it time to give the youngsters a catchy nickname? My nominees are J-No for Nolf and "the Sheriff" for Nickal. J-No is kind of lazy, an over-used concept, but I couldn't think of anything else except "Snappy McSnapperson" for his head snaps (yes, I started that thread ,too!) which is too many syllables for a nickname. Whilst B-Nick sounds great for Bo, being a native of Texas gives us many original nickname opportunities. This is a very important subject (to me) so any assistance would be appreciated! Does anyone know if the wrestlers have nicknames for each other? That could help, too. Thanks for indulging me.

They do. These generally stay between them. A big exception to that is if an injured or backup PSU wrestler does color commentary with Ironhead on a radio broadcast, and lets out the nickname.

I'm sure some of the nicknames amongst teammates should remain private! Any of us who ever knew a "Beer Can" can attest to that! My nickname in college was a play on my name, based on how my name would be mispronounced at away matches. I was thinking if there was something like that. Thank you for responding Tom! I feel like I won a prize!

I think every dorm floor had a "Beer Can"

I'm not even sure "Beer Can" and "Snappy McSnapperson" should be in the same thread.

On another board (HR?) someone wrote:
"Hungry Like the Nolf"

Too bad it's so long... How to shorten it? "Hungry"? "Wolf"? ... not sure ...

Nolf Vader. He already has "Jason".

Just love to watch him wrestle and he makes it just another day at the office. Pins number one undefeated returning champ on the road. Little arm raise and just run off the mat.

Let me help.

Cutch=Mouse
Nickal=NoBo
Cortez=Jaybird
Nico=BabyFlo

I've got it!

If Nolf were my teammate, I'd call him "Big Bad Nolf" or "Hungry like the Nolf". Then, after a while, I'd just naturally shorten it to "Big Bad" or "BB" or "BB Nolf" or "Hungry Nolf"

Nolf Vader is good. But for Bo I just like United. As in fly the friendly skies.

I'm not sure why, but I think I really like Nolf Vader. Maybe it's the idea of him approaching the mat while "The Imperial March" rocks the arena. That would be so intimidating!!!

No offense to Nolf, but anyone that gets intimidated by a piece of music does not have the mental fortitude to be a D-I wrestler.

I think of our guys as the good guys battling the evils of Iowa, tO$U, the NWCA, etc so any association with the dark side of the force and our team Im against...lol

The most reaction I ever witnessed to entrance music was my senior year when we ran out to Rob Zombie's More human than human....wow did the grey hairs in the stands go bonkers with that opening 30 secs. Still laugh at this to this day.

Sam Stoll comes out to The Imperial March in Carver, so there you go!

Tech-nolf, Nolfman, Gotta get some inside scoop... Ironhead needs to get another guest color analyst.... Cutch would be good for that this week...

And now another episode of
Jason & the Tie-in-Knots.
(From Argonauts)

Okay way too long, but Jason does tie his opponents in knots with his scrambles and falls.

After watching Annie's highlight video (very nice!), I thought about how most wrestlers, even the greats, push the pace in waves. Not Jason, he's one big wave of action. Thus I nominate The Human Tsunami or just Tsunami. It sounds like a Marvel Comic character. I'll go on a waiting list for the first t-shirt.

Funny you came up with that. I've been calling him "Tornado" for a month now.

Jason "The Nightmare" Nolf.

I'm in my 40's, outweight him by 50 lbs, keep "security" tucked in the nightstand by my bed, have a wife that could scare off anyone and the boy still gives me bad dreams...

After today I concur. He is Nolf Vader!!!!

Nicknames have to evolve until they are a step or two away from how they originated.

No need for the "Nolf Vader"

Just shorten it to Vader period
