I don't always love using the term commitment watch as I feel that means people are going to automatically expect a commitment. But there is multiple prospects on campus this weekend that we'll be keeping a close eye on.
2024 OL William Satterwhite (Archbishop Hoban - Akron, OH) - Penn State has long been the leader for Satterwhite and despite receiving Georgia and Clemson offers this week we still like where the Nittany Lions stand. Satterwhite ending his recruitment this weekend would be a big win for the Nittany Lions.
2024 OL Kevin Heywood (Pope John Paul II - Royersford, PA) - Heywood as of right now plans on taking his recruitment further but there is still a sense that the Philadelphia metro area native could commit to the Nittany Lions this weekend as well. Whether it's now or in the future, we think Penn State is firmly in the driver's seat.
2024 DE Jaylen Harvey (Quince Orchard High - North Potomac, MD) - Harvey is on campus once again, will this be the visit he ends his recruitment?
2025 RB Kiandrea Barker (The Woodlands - TX) / 2025 WR Quanell Farrakhan Jr. (The Woodlands - TX) - Penn State is in the lead for both Texas prospects and while it's still early there's been talk that the two could end up committing to the Nittany Lions sooner than later. Which prospects could a strong weekend put Penn State in a good position for?
RB Corey Smith (Catholic Memorial - Waukesha, WI) - Penn State is already in a very good spot for Corey Smith since offering him and should be in his recruitment till the very end. Smith is one of the top running backs on Penn State's 2024 running back board and a strong visit could perhaps propel the Nittany Lions into the lead here.
OL Donovan Harbour (Catholic Memorial - Waukesha, WI) - It will be tough to beat out Wisconsin in this recruitment but the Nittany Lions have been doing great recruiting offensive linemen in this cycle. Could that trend continue this weekend with Harbour?
OL Caleb Brewer (Wyomissing - Wyomissing, PA) - Brewer has somewhat become a forgotten name but Penn State still has a significant interest in the Wyomissing native, and that interest in reciprocated by Brewer. I've always been under the impression that Penn State as long as they push would be tough to beat. It's been a few months since he's been last on campus and got to see several other schools this spring. Great chance for Penn State to reposition itself here.
OL Liam Andrews (Dexter Southfield School - Brookline, MA) - Andrews's recruitment has been a slow and quiet one with most of the momentum going the opposite of Penn State's way. It's huge for the Nittany Lions to get him back on campus this weekend. This will still be a tough recruitment with several factors to consider but Penn State could put themselves in a good spot for the long run in his recruitment this weekend.
DE Nigel Smith (Melissa - Melissa, TX) - Smith is a name that has emerged over the last few weeks, and has appeared to be quite excited about this visit. With a strong visit, Penn State could put themselves right in the thick of it for Smith this weekend.
S Vaboue Toure (Irvington - Irvington, NJ) - Toure hasn't been the easiest recruit to get in contact with or for Penn State to get on campus but nonetheless, they've done a great job with him as much as they can and his recruitment appears to be a Penn State - Ohio State race. Getting him back on campus this weekend could be a big factor going forward in his recruitment.
