So what’s new, at least now it seems legal likePossible nj move-ins coming? For now...
I live in NEPA and one of the local school districts has said no to wrestling this year (as of right now at least), they are up in the air about basketball but swimming is alright. My issue with schools being hesitant on wrestling is that of the three winter sports it seems that wrestling, at least outside of practice, would have the least chance of a wide spread outbreak because it is one on one. Basketball you have 10 players on the court at a time with many others subbing in and out and swimming teams have 20-40 athletes on the deck at a time in close proximity. I understand that wrestling has the most close contact but also has the fewest competitors in action at once. If you can space out practice times where lightweights, middle weights and the upper weights practicing separately and also limiting a wrestlers practice partners then I can see a path forward that is easier to manage in terms of Covid when compared to basketball and swimming.the NJ info is kind of old news:
Wrestling Season
Whether you agree with the 180 by the league on football, it seems to me that the decision to play football greatly enhances the probability of a wrestling season as normal as possible under the circumstances. What do you think?bwi.forums.rivals.com
Move-ins? I would be pretty surprised by that. I speak with PA ADs several times a week. Every single one of them has told me that they have been meeting within their school district, and talking with other ADs in their PA District, about all the sports they traditionally field teams in, and that wrestling remains the sport that is causing them the most issues. On the flip side, I know of some PA schools that have at least scheduled duals. Bottom line, while the PIAA may figure out a way to conduct States, there remain a number of PA schools that are still unsure if they will be fielding wrestling teams this winter. Some schools in my area are still 100% online, while others are a hybrid where only 50% of the students are in on any particular day. Other parts of PA may be more relaxed about things -- it's tough to keep up on all the moving parts.
I agree lots of moving parts. It’s hard to make a decision like that at this point. I hope it happens for the students.the NJ info is kind of old news:
