NLWC at Canada Cup today

I've always wanted to take a group up to Canada for a tournament. Is the whole passport process difficult? Taking minors over has to be a pain in the ass, I assume? You adults probably know more than I.

Iirc the passport isn’t needed for sports teams. That was a major issue when they changed the rules for entering Canada post 9/11. A lot of teams along the border cross back and forth to play each other. So am exemption was made for this purpose.

If you want me to check, we have a sister soccer club in Ontario and they come to see us and vice versa every year. I can contact the local coach for info. (BTW we are in SE Pa).

^^ What he said, though if I were a parent of a traveling child, I'd rather cough up the passport fee than risk Junior losing his birth certificate in a foreign country. Even the 51st State.

Here's info on US passport applications:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/how-to-apply.html

It's easy for adults. A bit more complicated for minors since they must apply in person and have parental consent. The most challenging would be for kids 15/younger with divorced parents having shared custody -- if either parent denies consent, then Junior can't get a passport.

Adults and 16-17 are $110 for 10 years. 15/younger is $80 for 5 years.

Definitely want to get the thicker passport book with more pages built in -- same price now, but ordering more pages later costs more then. Even if you don't think you'll travel much today, never know what you might do in a 10-year span. Don't bother with the "passport card," useless unless you drive into Canada or Mexico frequently, can't use for any air travel or with other countries, and it costs more.
