So, WHAT is the objective of calling an Offensive Game anyway? To see how many drives you can SQUANDER? and how many PUNTS you can make? Is it to make a team which yo have COMPLETE athletic dominance over look like national Championship contenders?
WELL, if THOSE are the criteria, then we did GREAT !! Otherwise. it was a PATHETIC display. WHAT is it about ANALYZING the opponents defense, understanding WHAT they are trying to do, and the TALENT that you have available, to call plays that TAKE advantage of those tendencies, and call plays that will BE SUCCESSFUL?
As far as I'm concerned, it seems like THIS staff has a set of plays, and an offensive philosophy, that they want to use REGARDLESS of the talent they have to execute it. EXAMPLE... With Hackenbergs skill set.. HE needs to be given a PRO style offense, and PRO style plays to go along with it... the plays should be quicker developing, AND if not open, he needs a check down option. ALSO, WHAT sense does it make to run scat backs like Scott and Allen up the middle time and time and time again (as IF they were Saquan Barkley and Akeel Lynch)?... THAT is NOT where THAT talent can best be best used. I think Scott and Allan's skill set if best used OFF tackle, and in little flair passes where you give them the ball IN SPACE, and let them create. THAT can be used in Conjunction with the "downfield" passing game where. Where THEY ARE the "check down" option.
I keep hoping that the play calling will improve, but it HAS NOT... Mr,. Donovan and Mr. Franklin better figure it out FAST... because it gets MUCH TOUGHER from here...
