Not sure if anyone noticed ABC blurring-out the Stanford marching band

Pretty classless IMO.. Surprised Stanford did this, then have one of their band guys go pn twitter and brag about it..

You're really surprised the Stanford band did this? Really?

I am more surprise that one of their band leaders gloated about it on Twitter.. And yes, I am shocked. Stanford IMO has always been a pretty classy school. Developed a lot of good citizens.

For the stanford band, this was about a 4 on a scale of 1 (meh, who cares) to 10 (OMG). They think we're not nuanced enough for their humor. Meanwhile they dress like TGI Friday's employees.

Their band is known to be offensive- making fun of whoever they are playing. Class and the Stanford band (or the university administration who continue to tolerate them) should never be used in the same sentence. ;)

Hope we don't play them anytime soon. It could be a field day for them.

Exactly what I was thinking. On the other hand, a "show" in a game against Penn State could be the straw that finally gets that joke of a band shut down permanently.

After the way Iowa fans "warmly" welcomed the PSU faithful to Iowa City in 2012, I would tell the ones complaining to eat it. Good job, Stanford band! Kudos!

Of course that's not the point. The Stanford band insults every school, state, etc. their school plays. As psuro said above, they would have a field day if Stanford were to play Penn State. How many people out there would love that?

I can remember the Stanford band at Beaver Stadium. Their half time show felt with Three Mile Island. Everyone loved it.

That band travelled to PSU on their on resources...individual personal vehicles. They slept in the HUB ballroom. Party atmosphere, and they got along famously with their counterparts in the Blue Band and other Penn Staters.

And, yes, in the stands we did all love their performance.

And, yes, they knew that and appreciated it.

For all of us partying in all areas of the stadium, it was like National Lampoon or SNL come to life right before our eyes.

If Stanford were to play Penn State and the Stanford band really wanted to create a stir, they should do a serious, heartfelt tribute to JoePa for their halftime show. Chances are, that would happen before Penn State did anything.

I guess if my team was losing 35 - 0 at halftime, I may not be in the mood for something funny like this... that being said, I think this was funny.

I found the mastermind of this dastardly deed. Something must be done!

I would hope there are certain topics even they wouldn't mock. To do so would really reflect poorly on them...kinda like the Rutgers fans.

Some here are wrapped so GD tight. Now you're pro actively offended by the band mocking PSU. God forbid kids in a band at a super tough school don't take everything so damn serious!!!! How dare they have fun. Dare I say it?:eek::eek:

I love the Stanford Band. They make me laugh (most of the time). I also know a former member of the band. They have tremendous support from the Stanford Alumni. He always had a place to stay, meals paid for etc. by Alumni (not sure if they were band members or not). I live in North Carolina and my kids make fun of the Farmers Only dot com ads. Seriously, can we not laugh at anything anymore?

I heard that once when Stanford played ND, their halftime program was a salute to the Irish potato famine. Needless to say the golden domers were not amused.

Great post.

Penn State will FOREVER be tagged as Ped State by some. Its NEVER going away. So you either grow a thicker skin or give up being a fan.

And our BOT would ban them for life!

Apparenty they were saluting Iowa faithful with a stirring rendition of the Farmers Only.com jingle

The Stanford band is a disgrace and their act wore thin years ago. They started out being refreshing and different but over the years the act got old and they've gone from creative and funny to just offensive. I finally gave up on them a few years ago when they hosted BYU and did a halftime tribute to polygamy.

The Stanford band has morphed into a bunch of boorish elitist brats, nothing more.

Frankly I thought it was hysterical and I laughed my ass off.

Iowa didn't care too much about us when their coach officiated the game from the sideline in Beaver Stadium in 2000 and had two game changing calls overturned before replay. Nor did the officials care too much in 2002 when they robbed us on our own field against them. Iowa didn't have a whole lot of love for us when they dressed up in jail uniforms in 2012 to ride us on the Sandusky tragedy. They also did not show any love when their writers voted for Nebraska in 1994.

Once again, I thought it was funny as hell. Screw Iowa and screw the Big Ten.
