Stopped through the wrestling room this afternoon to see if there's any new info to come out of the team at the start of the spring semester and after the Southern Scuffle. As a wrap, no new transfer (yet), no decision at 141 (yet) and likely a rotation of Cassar and Rasheed at 197 before a starter is determined. Comments at the link from Sanderson and Rasheed, who talks about the difference between wrestling at 197 compared to 165/174 in previous seasons

Wrestling: Multiple lineup decisions to be made at PSU

**Edited to reflect Kuhn's announcement that he's joining the team

Another comment on Rasheed/197 that I didn't want to cram into the notebook but nonetheless found interesting from Sanderson...

"He's very loyal. He's a kid who gets calls from other coaches and people representing other programs all the time and he stays loyal to Penn State. That's something obviously that's not supposed to happen but that kind of stuff happens, and he's open about it. We love Shakur and all three of those guys are three of my favorite guys that I've been able to coach in my career. They're all fantastic kids and yeah Shakur had a great tournament. I don't think people are really that surprised by that. We still have two months to go here and things will work themselves out."

Great report Tim. Next time you see Cael tell him I said to burn the shirt.

I can attest to this, some kids would get discouraged wanna transfer and sometimes not have fond things to say. Since his redshirt freshman season he’s continued to big up and compliment the coaches in the Times I’ve seen him back here.

Tell Goodale to find another school to poach :mad:.... I love how classy Cael is, but it would be great if he wouldn’t be so nice and rat out the schools:D:D

Guessing that Rutgres is trying to steer that cruise-liner up the Susquehanna again. VJ two years ago. XXXX last year, and Shakur this year.

(1) Score another one for real journalism (facts, quotes, and complete sentences, Oh My!)

(2) Love seeing Rasheed get some detailed coverage

(3) Asked if there are any roster changes for the second half of the season, Sanderson replied, "Not really, officially. Not really no. There was a kid trying to get into school here and it's kind of back and forth, but when that happens we'll let you guys know – if it happens."

Can you imagine the internet implosion if "the kid" was PDIII? The apocalypse would be upon us.

We are lucky to be fans of a team like this. Love the fairness our coaches give to every wrestler on the team. There are reasons why guys like Rasheed stick around and they don't change no matter the circumstances. Excited to see how this team plays out.

If Rasheed does not start this year, he is going to transfer next year.

And nobody could ( Should ) blame him. He has worked his butt off and been a loyal and positive team player. If he isn't chosen to be the starter.....he should go somewhere that he can start and show his talent. He has earned that chance and deserves that chance.....just like Garett Hammond and Cody Law. I wish him great success.....hopefully in Blue and White.

Does your handle mean PA wrestlers in the state of TN? If so, whereabouts?
It used to mean that. Grew up in PA, lived in Memphis (Collierville) for 13 years, and moved back home when all three sons decided they were going to PSU. What about you?

I am in fact a PA wrestler in TN. Grew up 10 min from PSU, currently live and coach at a middle school in Nashville. Both sons just started getting into wrestling this year, one is a 3rd grader and the other a 1st grader so I'm loving that!

I love Nashville, i go there at least 3 times a year for business. I would consider moving there if we were going to move, which is less likely as we get older.

Ah, the nice part of the state. Love Nashville. Actually, anywhere about 2 hours east of Memphis all the way to Bristol is better than Memphis. Several years ago, I took my son and another wrestler over to a HS just east of Nashville for an Ed Ruth clinic. Can't remember which HS it was, though.
