I got to thinking after reading through Judge DD's thread on how the line performed against Ohio State... you know, one of the biggest problems we've had over the last 3 years or so was line depth, experience, and numbers... and looking ahead, it's looking like we may not be out of the woods just yet. Let me explain.

Of the 17 linemen on the current roster, 4 will be graduating. Then you have Chance Sorrell who is leaving the team, Nelson who may or may not return and the limited info on Noah Beh hasn't been good so I'm going to assume he won't be part of our team next year. Then you have Brosnon, the poor kid also can't seem to remain healthy. So that drops us down to 9. We'll have 4 freshmen coming in but that'll mean that of the 13 on the roster, 7 will be freshmen, rs or true. Don't get me wrong, I think we'll have talent and there's no doubt, I think from what we've seen, at least 3 of the starters will be solid (Bates, McGovern and Mahon). As the good Judge said, Fries and Menet are talented but they'll still have to go through the typical freshman learning curve. After the 5 starters, the remaining available linemen are:

Wright (RT)
Gonzalez (G)
Gellerstedt (RT or LT?)
Jenkins (Lt or RT?)

Not a lot of depth. Also, Jenkins and Gonzo will be rs sophomores with zero experience (well, almost) while Gellerstedt will be a rs frosh. Wright will be the only linemen with any experience and his is limited, too. Wonder if any of the 4 2017 commits will be ready to contribute? Also, with the way things are going, wonder if the staff will be recruiting a couple more offensive linemen? Just some random thoughts about the team's future- always thinking ahead, I know, I should just enjoy the present LOL. Any thoughts?
