Official Illinois vs. South Florida game thread

Thank goodness....I threw up a little in my mouth when I saw your post.

I did some work out there in the 80's. Now I know State College is considered to be geographically remote, but man is that part of Illinois......nondescript.

I've done the drive on I-57 between C-U and Chicago many times. Awful.

I was just a few years removed from graduating from Penn State. The engineering firm that I was working for was hired by Kraft Foods to design a new bagel production facility in Matoon. (Kraft had just acquired Lenders Bagels and decided to go into mass production). I flew out to O'hare regularly and made the drive down to Matoon, passing by C-U. I'm not sure if I ever had to turn the steering wheel.

One morning I was having breakfast at the hotel in town near the plant. I was reading the local paper and there was an article about the plant (bringing jobs to the area). It also talked about the history of bagels and how to serve and eat them. I don't think there was a large Jewish presence in town.

Illinois and S. Florida still 0-0.

The other thrilling game tonight is the match up between the mighty Owls of Temple and the powerhouse Minutemen of UMass. That's a barn burner with Temple leading 3-0.

I'm actually watching this game. Yes my life is pathetic. Announcers just mentioned that Breneman transferred from Penn State.

I'm right there with you. I'm watching Cumberland Valley at Bishop McDevitt (although there is a little more scoring in this game). :D

In Matoon, a bagel is a defective roll. Not exactly a happening place.

I watch 10min of the ILL vs USFgame. That is an ugly ugly football game. Both teams are really bad, with Illinois being, perhaps the worst team I've seen.....

I was watching a bit, too. Listening to C-L vs Redbank. 19-8 Redbank to start the second half.
C-L dresses 16 players. Unreal.
I won't mention the score of the game between my Clarion Bobcats and your Keystone Panthers. ;) Hope that you are doing well.

6-4 continues to be safe in the history of inept football. Now 9-2 South Florida. :D

The refs are going to have to wash their penalty flags at halftime since the flags have been on the ground a lot thus far.

Some Lyco County scores if anyone's intersested:

Hey Mich. I'm heading to Clarion tomorrow to visit my pop. He's 95 now and in a nursing home. Planning to check out Clarion River Brewing Co.

Honestly, not sure how some of the schools in Clarion County can survive. Wouldn't be surprised to see some consolidation soon.

I-57 is a contender for "worst interstate highway in America." Not the quality of road, but the quality of drive. Just so so boring, for the entirety of its length (from south Chicago to SE Missouri).

I-16 also a contender.

I was there in late June, and went to CRB for a beer and appetizers. I will let you judge the beer for yourself. Enjoy your visit with your pop!
