A day late on the thread, but hopefully we're not a dollar short on the field this Saturday.
Penn State looked like a completely different team offensively in the 2H against Buffalo after the storm let up. Found some success with the run game, had some deep balls in the passing game, and just looked more in rhythm.
With the news of Rutgers losing three starters in the secondary, then their best DT being ruled out with injury, then Caroo breaking out The Undertaker choke slam and getting suspended right before the HC gets a suspension, my mindset has changed on this game.
Initially I was expecting a close game like last year, but now I am starting to lean towards Vegas. Sure Rutgers may have this game to rally around even more so than usual, but the Spartans didn't defeat the Persian army no matter how hard they fought. Still need to have the bodies.
Ironically, that's where Penn State has a strength. Penn State has a tremendously deep defense (especially with Haley and Bell back) even with the injury to NWW. And in a game like this, give me the QB who drove his team down the field to win on the road last year over the rookie who has never played in front of 100k people combined in his career, let alone all at once... And all against him.
Not predicting a whitewash, but it should be a more comfortable 4th quarter this year.
PENN STATE - 23
rutgers - 10
