OK, I'm a little disappointed that we only received two verbals yesterday...

Is this a good thing, in that CJF is doing such a great job recruiting that my expectations are extremely high, or is this unrealistic and reality is that the current trend will wane?

Yea, I agree. Thought we would get 3-4 :) But we did get two good ones for a position of need. As of now any gets will be less for need. Although, we could use a JC DT and/or a JC OL.

We really don't know that there were "only" two commits from Saturday. There could be additional announcements this week, or there could be commits in the next few months that result from this weekend, but where the kids want to check out another school or two before making that final decision. We also don't know what the total class size that CJF is up against. As the 2015 season concludes there will likely be additional defections from the team that open up scholarships, but what is the "max" class size that CJF is up against right now? We don't know. It could be as low as 19 or 20, where only Nixon or Dioubate (I'm making up the names....) are open to commit. Maybe we are at max right now with 18 pending the end of the season roster review with each current player. We don't and won't know....

I was thinking more in terms of the 2017 class, where I was and still am looking for 1 or 2 additional commits to get some momentum going. duh-oh-high-ya-state-u has 7 already, 4 from oh-high-ya and 2 from FL.

Yea, I thought 2017 would have more from yesterday but from reactions we made serious progress with a lot of kids. If I did one of my updates for 2017 I'd easily have 20 guys in the top two categories. Really unreal how well we're set up for next years cycle. Hainsey and Hansard are probably closest to committing from what I see on social media.

I'm very confident that this staff can recruit at a high level. Don't worry on the timing of an individual weekend. Sit back and enjoy the show. Big things are coming.

Not disappointed as you never know what's going on outside of our scrutiny.

I will say the final five for 2016 will be

WR Nixon
DL Dioubate or Chavis
LB Ferns and Hansford or Hudson
DB Hamlin or Fuller

The 2017 class will start with Stafford, Webb, Thorpe, Hainsey, Jeter, Adams, and Ford and will only take up to 15 guys.

Stafford?

Nixon, Chavis, Hanford, Fuller and Hamlin is my best guess. Appreciate the updates and tracking other sources. I am old school so I appreciate your tapping sources I would never see.

Has to be because we're removing the names from the jerseys.

Hey Dan! How have you been buddy?

Actually, we rec'd only 1 yesterday.

We had the other for about a week or so earlier.

Hope all is well sir.

Yes... I think we should average about 1 commit a day every day every week. Definitely, none of these guys should ever go home and talk it over. They should all commit on the spot.

WAFSP.

What two did you get? Did Hudson?

I'm having a hard time complaining about much with the staff and their efforts. 18 verbals right now and a top 10 class seems well ahead of previous years but looking across the B1G alone and there's a furious pace of commitments.

It's only July and there are sure to be some surprises in the fall and winter before signing day. Have to hold on to what we have, which is difficult with so many commitments so early.

My personal wish list:
Able to land 3 of these 4: Nixon, Hamlin, Dioubate, Ferns
1 of these 2: Hansford or Hudson
.... and grab a surprise like Fuller (who said after the weekend that he will be taking an official to PSU later on) or Betiku.

Why are you such an a$$? You think everyone else is reactionary or faint of heart... I'm just speaking to CJF's momentum with recruiting and EVERYONE's prediction about multiple verbals on Saturday. Nobody is on a ledge, or making any sky is falling comments. I'm just making an observation about how high my expectations were.

It did seem that Rip's post was over reactionary.

Try to not take it personal. I think sometimes posters take comments on a board like this as a criticism of a coach they very much like. Discussions via written posts are often misconstrued.
