You have to be impressed with OkSt. The Cowboys ran away from a field that included most teams contending for second place this year.

Hawk fans were fearful that DT's boys would pass them in a few years, but that outcome could happen as soon as March 2025.

I still think Iowa has the horses this year, but I don't think they sniff 2nd for awhile after March 2025, even if Bob opens both of his pockets of money. DT is recruiting very well so far.

If they finish second this year that would be a huge accomplishment. Not because it would be a huge upset considering the outside talent they have rented. They could have four outsiders who should score substantial points for the Hawks and 2 maybe 3 of their own who should contribute.

In the 11 times Cael's PSU have finished first Iowa was second once. As well as Penn State there is almost always someone else who also finishes ahead of Iowa. OkieSt is the probable team to do that this year.

Willie has Iowa at 7AAs and 114 points, while he has OSU at 74 points and 4AAs.

I think he has overstated Iowa strength and understated OSU to a degree. I have the following

Iowa AAs: Ayala, Parco, Caliendo, Buchanan, Keuter. I might be able to see Arnold getting there but it depends on the draw. Not feeling Brands. Only two can't miss AAs in Buchanan and Parco.
Iowa points: 100

OSU AAs: Spratley, Hamiti, Plott, Hendrickson, and one of Surber, Amine, and Fish. I'd say Surber based on weight class quality.
OSU points: 90

To me, these two teams are much closer than Willie predicts. I can see them both getting 5 AAs, but if either team gets 6AAs, it would likely be Iowa.

If Teemer is back that is a big boost for Iowa.

As wrestlingfan22 says, Teemer will be a high AA. I can’t imagine he won’t be back.

Arnold won’t AA, but Kennedy has looked good. Kennedy has a great shot at AA after beating out Brands.

If all true, Iowa is well over 100. But they aren’t deep and are at risk of injury, (see for example Teemer).

With Teamer in the lineup, I see a dual going 5-5. The Cowboys favored at 125, 141, 174, 184 and 285. Without Teamer, Okie St would be favored 6-4.

It's crazy to me that they scheduled their dual meet on 2/23. That's late in the season.
IIRC it's always been the last dual of the year for both teams, or at least in mid Feb. Except for the one year they wrestled in Iowa's football stadium, and during Covid.

Good. I hope both teams continue to respect that tradition and never learn how Cael's scheduling prepares the team for the postseason.

I agree with you. They (OSU and Iowa) are much closer than 40 points. I can't see Iowa scoring 100 and history says they finish 3rd or worse.

Jamison can AA as well. He just beat Hardy fairly handily which is a good win. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t AA either but he’s definitely capable

Iowa is not scoring 100 points. I'd be willing to bet serious money on that.

People always over estimate how many points the top teams are going to get. It's a big country and there are lots of potholes that show up at nationals.

We're the only team that you can count on scoring what is expected. That has been proven over and over in recent years.

Niether Iowa or Okie St will do better than their seeds in March. If you combine the teams they have a handful of real gamers but combined they don't have one MM-Levi-C-Star-or Kerk. And I would take an LL or a SVN over anything either team has. Of the two my money is on Okie St this year and in the years to come. The question is can we beat Okie St and Iowa's combined score in March?
