OK ST @ Iowa - Feb 23

Hendrickson winning by fall is probably more likely than by tech. Especially if Kueter wrestles him.

However, I think there are conceivable ways for Iowa to still out-bonus OkSt. This feels like one of those duals where the unexpected will happen at a 2 or more weights, and with it being in Carver, I give Iowa a slight edge.

125 Spratley vs Cruz Spratley is favored
133 Ayala vs Reece/ McComas Ayala is favored
141 Jamison vs Cullan Jamison is favored
149 Parco vs Young Parco is favored
157 Teemer vs Fish Teemer is favored
165 Caliendo vs Amine Caliendo is favored
174 Hamiti vs Nelson Hamiti is favored
184 Plott vs Angelo Plott is favored
197 Buchanan vs Surber Buchanan is favored
Hwt Hendrickson vs Kueter Hendrickson is favored

That's 5-5 on paper with bonus points deciding it. I could see Spartley and Hendrickson getting bonus. I could see Ayala and Parco getting bonus. Maybe Jamison and Buchanan can bonus but Cullan kept from getting bonused against VomBaur. Plott is the favorite but Angelo athleticism could give him fits. If Angelo pulls off the upset Iowa will win the dual.

Why isn't Gabe wrestling?

What were they to do @174? Arnold, Kennedy and Brands all out of redshirts.

The best wrestler at the weight should be wrestling 174 - Kennedy, Arnold or Brands and the best wrestler should be wrestling 184 - Ferrari. Let the chips fall and put the best team on the mat. Projecting a year or two ahead is difficult enough, let alone 4+.

If you want to dig deeper, Gabe should have wrestled last year and shirted this year. That would have helped.

The assumption was Gabe would be a 4 timer whenever he wrestled. So going or sitting was just a formality.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Brands try to poach Bastida away from Dresser. (Note: I didn't say successfully.)

If Iowa tries this, the offseason won't be boring.
Well Iowa St is definitely coming after Iowa guys. So I imagine Iowa will go after someone. I would go after Ech for 149 for 1 year

there isn't any plan - just the one the Brand's have told and they both have bought into it. Obviously next year is different weights...

18-16 ok st. Only two bonus bouts one for each. This is a tuff one to predict, I'm only about 65% confident with my pics I do see a good path for Iowa squeaking this one out as well.

I think Cruz will hold spratley to a Dec its the Iowa way, which is not wrong and how they squeak ot their wins.

Ayala Dec (hopefully)
Jamison Dec (bonus?)
Parco major
Teemer Dec (could fish pull it off)
Caleindo Dec (it's amine)
Hamiti Dec (both options are stingy)
Plott Dec. (I'm guessing Ferrari, so Ferrari dec?)
Buchanan Dec. (Bonus possible)
Hendrickson tech. (Will kueter slow him down?)

I see one or two upsets but who and what team.

If Ferrari does go osu will need an upset or more bonus points.

I have left out the match I think will go into OT - 165. I've watched Caliendo all season long. There seems to be some type of consensus view that he is a clear #2 - I just don't see it. Yeah, he kills lesser guys because of his motor. But anybody that is top 10-ish he has faced this year - it's a match. Amine is the best guy he has faced all year besides Mesenbrink. He's not going to break Amine either, he's not Mesenbrink. This match is going to OT. Will probably decide the dual, either guy could win.

Both their matches last year went to SV so absolutely that is a match.

However, I think the Carver crowd will be a factor there with Amine's style.

Caliendo did major Paddy and had a close one with Sparks at the salute but teched Sparks at the dual. He had a closer match with Minto. Not sure what rankings you like but Intermat has Minto 8 Paddy 9 and Sparks 11. Amine is #6 he will be the highest ranked guy he's seen minus Mitchell

Caliendo
Amine
Barraclough
Hall
Maybe, Ramirez if he rounds back into shape
Maybe, Garvin if he shows up

Everybody else
Why the hell did Brignola RS this year? If ever there was a path to AA, it was this year.

I feel Hendrickson is more likely to go for it all on the mat than Kerk. I can’t see Keuter staying off his back, and it’s better than 50/50 that if he gets there he’s not finishing the match.

Cruz is showing alot of improvement no doubt, I can't see him beating Spratley unless something freak happens like with LL and Mccrone.
